It's same game every week. We dink and dunk the ball around and never create anything and eventually the other team scores on counter. I'd like a breakdown of our last 20 goals, a lot of them have been on set pieces or counters that had nothing to do with Sarriball.
Our only offense is Luiz making Hollywood passes, which is the exact opposite of what Sarri is asking for.
Is it bad that I don't even feel our losses anymore? I used to hate losing to United. Now just indifference as I see no hope for the club.
I feel similar. It's comedic. But also troubling in the back of my mind. As if the footballing world is just passing us by and we're passing into the Arsenaland.
So Sarri does not give a toss what fans, or The Club for that matter, think, just what a guy who's paid a day or a few days wages for tickets and gear wants to hear let Zola do the Cup final, as long as he plays Kante proper and gives CHO some time while you beg Zidane. If Zidane is a bust, wait til early Spring/Summer for permanent and let Zola try til Season's end if it does not melt down. Worse thing Sarri has done is make Zola brown-nose and apologize for Sarri, about CH-O and compare him to Pep ffs made Zola so nauseous he had to miss today.
p.s. too early for lamps, not because he can't do the job, not only one of the most football astute players ever, but one of the smartest in or out of football but i don't believe Roman would grant him the $$$$, the decision making authority to invest what is needed this summer with a 1-2 window ban imminent. Also need to clear out the aging deadwood first to give him a fresh start without some of the deadwood wanting to challenge his leadership Not that he necessarily can't handle that but they went after Jose and Conti and won, if only they had the same drive on the pitch. Zidane one of the few, if not the only one with the leverage to get the necessary authority and power from Roman
The only positive with Zidane is that he will have an open communication with Roman which none of the other managers had.
I totally understand where you are with this. It's part of the cycle of football and honestly anyone who is a roman era supporter will not have suffered too much. Although over the course of the clubs history this season is still a top 25 of all time or close, everything is relative. I'm not there myself (I grew up when were yo-yo'ing between divisions and that hardens you like you can't imagine) but taking a dispassionate view of things do want us to see blow things up, go super young and take 2-3 seasons to completely re-tool. Not competing for top 4 for a while may see some attrition to the fanbase but honestly that's another plus for me.
My problem is we had the entire foundation laid out and were very successful in recent years. We were just a few astute signings away from building up for long term. Didn't happen and predictably we are back to square one. Frustrating but will keep watching with no expectations.
I thought Chelsea looked good for the first half an hour until conceding. If the rather useless looking Higuain hadn't missed a sitter with his head and miscontrolled when in on goal then it might all have been different. From there on an impressive Man U completely dictated and Chelsea had no plan B. Sarri like AVB or Scolari before him is stubborn. No way to change. No other style or formation. No other tactic. The Sarri ball project is okay. It is potentially entertaining. With the right personnel it would work better. I was so pleased that we poached Jorghino from under the noses of Citeh. Now, not so much. As a defensive mid his defending reaction time is s l o w and his ability to tackle is non-existent. He can make thousands of short meaningless sideways balls during a game. I was impressed by that at first. Jorghino alongside Kante in a 4-4-2 ? sigh. The fans turned on Sarri last night: "You don't know what you're doing" reprise. IF we can beat City in the final he might last until the end of the season. Higuain? I bet he wished he stayed in Italy.
Is that true? How so? I'm not sure I follow you here. Why would ZZ have more open communications with Roman?
Grasshopper. I am not sure how an attrition of fan base matters at all. I don't care if we have more fans or less fans. I support Chelsea and that is that. Losing fans is neither a plus nor a minus in the grand wheel of life.
Anything that makes it easier to get a ticket is a plus imo. Besides, fewer casual tourists in the ground would also improve the atmosphere which has gotten worse every year. Another plus.
many people, not singeling anyone out, and pundits always say with "the right players" Sorri ball would be great but who and how; all i picture is 9Jorginhos and poor Higuin. Sarri does not value really any individuality, like Hazards, so though I am a team first guy you still need special players doing special things within the team concept, and why would they come here to stay in same spot and make short vertical passes all day. Sure you could say Mbappe etc., but I could finish top 4 with him and a couple other superstars, but hhell Sarri would probably play him at centerback. A huge consideration is this summer may be our last window before a half to a year ban, in which with Sarri we lose Hazard, CH-O, and likely RLC, AC and ?. Anyone really trust Sarri to rebuild a Top 4 team for the next two years? I don't consider it hyperbole to fear that trying the same thing over and over for another year or two could leave us in a relegation battle. A couple good point years in a down, except Juve, Serie A, without any silver whatsoever, ever, is not a foundation to trust with a total player rebuild. And I do not think the system will work in this league regardless, it is absolutely nothing like pep's Funny for a game and a half or so early, forget against whom, Sarri flirted a bit with a double pivot with Kante , Jorginho playing even-ish in a 4-2-1-3 and it seemed to work better, can't the stubborn a$$ at least try that adjustment from a coach he knows to be the genius of football. I think he wants out now with his 5 million payday, so he can return to Serie A, Roma perhaps. Can there be another explanation for leaving all the attackers on bench in a desperate 0-2 one off Cup match....
Just thinking that someone with Zidane's pedigree won't come without a few assurances, one of which would probably be getting the players he wants.
If we offer him a war chest of 400 million to get whoever he wants I can see it. Chelsea give him the chance to build a new era. Man U will always be in Sir Alex shadow, City is a no, Pool is a no, Spurs maybe if Pooch leaves but he won’t get the money there, Arsenal will always have Wenger and likely won’t give him money either. Chelsea give the bench chance to create a lasting name in England at the moment.
that's a really good point. my skepticism is around chelsea really committing to spending that money. if we do, then a lot more options are on the table, including Zidane. though i'd personally say Utd is still an option for him, they are looking for the next Sir Alex, and he'd have every opportunity to build there as he would at chelsea. so that may depend on what Poch does, and how Ole finishes. truthfully though, i'd like Zidane to commit pretty early if possible too.
