That’s what happened in the run up to the Italia 90 WC. Although , I believe only one new stadium (delle Alpi) was built. All of the older stadiums though were refurbished. Italia 90 lost a lot of money as I recall. I believe Italy only had 6 years to get ready but a remodel is a lot easier than building from scratch. It’s still 9 years for that Euro tournament and its a long away but with Italy now in a recession , it will be difficult.
Yes Bari was built but just looked up that Lecce was renovated in1985. Artemio Franchi in Firenze was completely redone. Fiorentini still were complaining in the early and mid 2000’s on how much money was spent and it was only used for “three games”. Delle Alpi turned out to be a nightmare from the outset thus leading them to build the new Juventus stadium. That may have worked out for the club in the end though. I think it was a time where clubs were in pre internet and pay per view mode and that was why they felt a need to build huge hulking stadiums. They were thinking about selling tickets as opposed to now where everything is ppv on TV or online.
I want to see a goal or two. La Viola -Napoli reminded me of the days of catenaccio. Fiorentina-Napoli 0-0: tante occasioni, nessun gol - Gazzetta
Watching Parma v Inter. How is it possible a team that has Icardi only has 31 goals for the season.. criminal.
I loved Spalletti when he was here but honestly, Inter have far too much talent to be this far behind Napoli.
I guess in the end he really had it out with Totti. The club should have kept him though because his players did more for him than they do for EDF. Or at least they seemed to have played better. Not sure if his non playing position matters all that much now either way but I don’t think Totti will have remained with the club though even as an advisor had Luciano stayed on as manager at Roma.
Either way , I don’t see how either will have coexisted even while Totti was retired. Reading his book, I’m sure it had something to do with it and the club won’t ever get rid of Francesco over Spalletti. Even if he isn’t playing anymore. Things could always change in the future though.

Pouring down rain in Bergamo... Atalanta losing to Spal on a head shot from Andrea Petagna in the 8th minute.. Meanwhile, Spal's GK Emiliano Viviano on loan from Sporting Lisnon made two amazing saves in succession! Welcome back to Italy!
Ferrero considering selling Samp to a group of American investors. Apparently, Gianluca Vialli connected the two. http://www.forzaroma.info/news-calc...to-a-vendere-il-club-a-vialli-e-un-fondo-usa/
Just heard this on the Rai this morning. Along with Roberto Mancini , Gianluca Vialli is still a God in Genoa. He recently won and overcame a 2 year battle with cancer and Samp fans chanted his name for 15 minutes solid! That’s respect!

Quite a special story this guy is becoming.
We absolutely need Inter not to run with that 3rd place otherwise qualifying for CHL will be very hard. Milan looks like a new team.
