I sense a huge disappointment among the talking heads. Oh well, at least the shrill tones will be silenced for another week.
That was our best performance of 2019. The 2nd and 3rd goal were both world class. We easily could have scored more. I think we have found something with this midfield. We returned to a 4-3-3. Fabinho was very solid and controlled the game. Wijnaldum was outstanding, especially in attack. Naby Keita was excellent as well. Great ball to Firmino creating our 3rd. This midfield had the perfect balance. Our front 3 was looking great playing in their positions from last season. Salah was constantly involved. Firmino's back heel was world class. Sadio Mane has now scored the opening goal in 3 consecutive games. Bournemouth had their best chance in the 2nd minute. After that, our defense never looked like conceding. Clean sheet. Up the Reds. Top of the League. Bayern next.
It was, and a great delight it was. Created and defended. One key difference between us and City and Spurs, lately, has been the midfield dominance. Doesn’t always work in your favour, mind. However, teams are more prepared to attack Liverpool than City because, quite often, City and Spurs will quickly cut through them while Liverpool has tended to give them space when they have the ball and time when they don’t. Today we largely denied them both. Could and ought to have scored more than just the three. More of that, please.
Wijnaldum wasn’t allowed to sleep at the team hotel last night because he had a stomach virus. Klopp said he was nervous when everyone hugged him after he scored. It’s also probably why he went strait down the tunnel when he came off. Didn’t want him near the rest of the players.
This sickness has, it seems, affected the team over last two matches. Not that Klopp has made any excuses at all,
Nicely done. Second half was schoolboy "shots in" with total domination. Should have scored more but I'm not bitchin if we have our mojo back.
First few minutes had me worried then once the first goal came in, they pretty much cruised. Yeah, there could have been more goals but it was a solid performance and more of what is to be expected. It was good to have Gini and TAA back... and Anfield for that matter. I think the home fans got the word not to freak out and made it a positive day overall.
B'mouths tactics worked in our favour. Got to give it to them trying to snatch an early goal, but when we settled they may have been better showing more defense and trying to catch us on a break. Instead they tried to match our mid field and it cost them. Nice open game, but suicide..
