not really that many real counter chances in this game. This isnt the Wolfsburg game where Wolfsburg were down 2-1 when Wright came on and being down, left tons of space for Schalke for easy counters, it's a 2-2.

31 year old Croatian CF Nikola Kalinic who plays for Atletico Madrid is being linked strongly with a move to Schalke.

Interesting. I thought the coach said Haji had made the first team. And I guess that was true. For a short time looks like. But, the tweeter is wright, Haji should have been looking at other options over the winter break, maybe a lower level club or something.

if you look at the 1st tweet Fontein was one of the 4 players to also get promotion is also back to II. One has to remember that 1st team promotion doesn't necessarily means you make matchday squads everytime. A lot of players are part of 1st teams but play in II.

It's so that he can play in the Oberliga Westfalen (fifth division) with the Schalke reserves and keep in match shape. Schalke II is likely to get promoted to the Regionalliga West this season, too.

I think people underrate how important this is to clubs. I heard an interview with a Werder Bremen supporter who was disappointed in how the reserve side had gotten relegated from the 3.Bl and the negative impact it would have on development. For the clubs where youth development is the lifeblood they need their reserve sides to play against top competition.

You are right. There is a status boost when clubs have a good reserve team.

For some reason I thought the Knappenschmiede had won the table a couple years ago with the three Amis, and was surprised to read they are in the 5th division. But, I think that was a cup or some tournament I heard about (maybe they just go to the final). Anyway, in 2016-17 they U23s dropped from 4th division Regionalliga into the 5th division. Looks like they will move back up to 4th division since they have a big hold on 1st place currently (11 points with one more game than the next teams).

On the bench today. Probably won’t get minutes with S04 bring down a man around the 60 minute mark.

looks like no Europe for Wright as he's not listed even in the squad update.

They're saving him for the much more important league games.

The Europa is like the Sudamericana: no one cares.

It has to do with another thread where they were saying Lainez is doing great because he's not making the league squad since what matters is the cup.

Probably has to do with @Ger90 being one of the most active posters in this forum while also constantly trolling and arguing with US fans in the USA-Mexico rivalry threads (not sure why anyone would choose to participate in that cesspool. It's odd that someone who spends so much time researching and posting about American players simultaneously turns around and feels the need to try to antagonize their fan base. :ROFLMAO:

To each their own, I guess.

Haji is not on Schalke's revised Champions League squad, but according to the tournament regulations it should be possible for the club to register him up until the day before the match in question should he be needed.

I'm still wondering what happens to him once everyone is fit. You still have 3 guys who are not fully fit in Burgstaller, Teuchert and
Skrzybski. Some of those 3, seems like only time before they are back. While Embolo looks like he could be out for the season.

Kutucu gets a start while Wright was left out of the squad.

Yikes. Those threads make the worst flame wars on USA Men seem pleasant and informative by comparison.

00-Kutucu's stock seems to be going up, not only did Schalke sign him until 2022 recently but he scored today vs Fortuna in the Cup and it was his shot that the GK parried which turned into an easy tap in for the 3rd goal.

he is after all competition for Wright. Who knows whether he ends up blocking Wright or not?
