not good enough yet for 1BL but Hertha is considering a Winter loan to 2BL, although that means they have to extend his contract that expires in 2019.

if he does get loaned out, at least he'll finally gets a chance to make his pro debut.

the Belgium club doesn't have a buying option.

well at least he'll make his pro debut and get playing time before he turns 21 in April.

looks like he went to that bottom of the table Belgium club only because both the sporting director and the coach of Excel are Germans.

with all the rumors of |Friede on loan to 2BL seems to me that he couldn't get any guarantee playing time in any 2BL clubs which is why they went elsewhere.

and finally makes his pro debut in a important 2-1 win.

Starts in his 2nd game at the club as Royal Excel takes on top of the table Genk.

played full game in a 2-1 win over 1st place Genk. That's 2 wins in 2 games for Royal Excel. Went from close to relegation spot to jump to #12 on the table.

    Not my reaction (didn't watch)
Was very inconspicuous in the first half, but has increased significantly in the second half. Occasionally flashed his technical skills and led some good defensive battles. As I've had the impression here several times in Berlin, he felt pretty lazy (mostly on the go, a few sprints) and has never actually offered his players active.

In itself solid performance, but at his mileage and intensity he must definitely work on his position, otherwise he will be nothing in the Bundesliga.

still the same issues since Summer,

If Frantzdy Pierrot can have his own thread in the main yanks abroad section, Sidney should be promoted!

...laziness and complacency are kind of unamerican, aren't they?

maybe the mods are thinking of demoting him to a subthread of some sort. they may not want him on any ya thread.

Feeling pretty optimistic with three wins from three games into his loan move. Seems he can help the team push for, realistically, a high spot in the Europa playoffs. Anyone watched either of these two games?

Wonder if he'll play himself into a permanent move to Belgium or maybe a loan to a Bundesliga or 2.Liga team for next season.

and his goal ended up being the winner as 10 men Excel won 2-1.

that's 4 wins in 4 games since he was loaned out. Performance wise, still see mixed reactions though. Its even more reason why he needs the match practice.

I've watched him numerous times with Germany and wasn't impressed. He also got criticized by both Hertha 1st team coach Dardai and II coach Covic. Now in Belgium reactions are still mixed. There is a reason as to why he wasn't good enough for 1BL chances and needed to develop his game on loan. He's not there yet.
