In my opinion he would've washed out quicker, hardly anyone would know who he was, and he wouldn't have made as much money in his career.
A few Americans were pioneers in Europe before Harkes and Ramos, particularly Paul Caligiuri in Germany, Peter Vermes in Hungary, Hugo Perez in France and Frank Klopas in Greece.
I disagree, he had all of the physical attributes to be a starter in a top-four league in Europe. He failed because he never had to earn anything.......
I think it was around Bahia days when he didn’t play much there. He hit a wall and never came back from it. Turkey and Greece a little bit, but it was fleeting. I wonder what would have happened if Sean Johnson didnt let that one in against El Salvador.
If you remember his season with the Union he was by far their best player <-- his attitude in the lockerroom and towards his teammates sunk everything after that.
I never understood his move to Brazil. He was traded to exactly the place where guys like him are a dime a dozen: gifted technically, lacking in the physical, with good vision and lousy discipline.
It was a swap of unwanted players with similar salaries. Bahia had enough of Kleberson and the Union with Freddy. At least Kleberson played for the Union.
Imagine stating that Adu had "all of the physical attributes to be a starter in a top-four league" without a hint of irony... and yet here we are. Even in two thousand frickin' nineteen the Freddy Adu thread remains stuck in some alternate reality filled with delusions...
It’s been a while since I’ve had t point out that had hentakennthrnInter offer at 12 and becom a great player he would have been playing for Ghana....as he never would have been eligible for US citizenship
Well I’ll tell you guys, I watched all 12 of his appearances last year and he doesn’t have the physical tools anymore.

Wynalda seems to have a knack for getting lower level teams to punch hard above their weight..... and an eye for talent among players not otherwise taken seriously. If he sees no use for Freddy, then Adu truly is done and dusted.
Wynalda was on SXM with Jason Davis earlier this week. I didn't listen to the whole interview, but the beginning made it sound like his squad is settled. Unrelated, but this is why I pulled this thread up today: https://www.instagram.com/p/Btn8TWZnWD3/
