With the way Maya Yoshida has been guilty on both goals for not closing down the space with the shooter, it's no wonder why Southampton are flirting with relegation right now in the Premier League.
Ball simply not sticking for Qatar up top. They are playing into Japan's hands by putting everyone behind the ball.
soft PK, but not as soft as the one Japan got against Iran. Like I said you win some you lose some. I think the rules need to be reviewed but that hand stopped a goalbound header intentional or not.
I know that this is a bit of a grey area, but in my opinion, all goal bound efforts inside the penalty area that get blocked by the arm should result in penalty kicks, regardless of whether it was ball-to-hand or happened in close proximity.
Qatar has been solid throughout this tournament, well deserved to be the champion of Asia, hard luck to Japan!
I agree. IMO Unintentional stopping no clear chance = no penalty Unintentional stopping goal bound effort or clear chance = penalty
From what I understand, if a player's arm is in an unnatural position, a penalty will be awarded regardless of intent. At least according to this: https://www.livestrong.com/article/93621-soccer-striker-training-tips/ I think it was a fair penalty. Intent or not, his arm was outstretched from his body and prevented a ball from going towards goal. Harsh or not, I think you have to give the penalty.
I said a few days back I had a strong feeling they would beat Japan. Looks like I was correct. Qatar have won this tournament emphatically. Deserved winners, and easily the best team currently in Asia.
Congratulations to Qatar NT. They played a great tournament and were by far the better team today. Japan didn't show up and in the first half did their worst half of football I've seen in a long time.
Except the ball is going away from the goal, which is why it hits his arm, which by the way is in a natural position when you are jumping.
This is nothing like that penalty. This one was a clear extended arm blocking a headed shot on goal. The Iran penalty was nothing like this. The Iran v Portugal penalty should never have been called.
