yeah it doesn't look good for either him or Ashton Gotz, career seems to be going nowhere.

    a very long overdue update.

on trial with 3rd Liga club Cottbus.

    Kiesewetter is playing
One candidate is Jerome Kiesewetter. The 25-year-old right winger has entered the test training on Tuesday according to the "Lausitzer Rundschau" and should now recommend for a contract. Currently, the native Berliner is without a club, in the last two seasons he was at Fortuna Dusseldorf under contract and came in 21 second division games used. In the fall, played the two-time US national player in Aue, but was not committed.

another site says that his lack of playing for pretty much 9 months is a sticking point as Cottbus are struggling.

don't know the veracity but on some Cottbus board, some fans were saying that Kiesewetter didn't pan out. Yikes if true.
    Eredivisie trial failed, 1st division
    2BL trial failed, 2nd division
3rd Liga trial fail???? 3rd division

if that's the case is he headed for RL?

Cottbus signed 2 players today and no Kiesewetter.

If I were him, I'd be trying really hard for a USL move to an MLS reserve team. That way, he gets a bit of preseason under his belt, which helps with the fitness issues that I'm sure are there, and if he performs well, the pathway to the first team is pretty short.

Those contracts are usually one-year deals as well, so if it works out and he wants to go back to Europe next winter, he would have some performances to show to interested clubs.

Second division in US or in a Scandinavian country sounds like where he needs to go.

another one leaves Europe, seems like a lot of them have left in Winter.

and pretty much makes sense he couldn't even make it between 1BL-3rd Liga level. All the people who said he should go to USL were on the money.

with Boyd and Kiesewetter going to USA and Jones before them, wonder if we'll see more German-Americans going to the USA going forward? Johnson was heavily linked to MLS and seems like he could head there once his Germany time comes to an end. Wasn't Morales also very close to going there before his Fortuna move? Green did mention he'd like to play MLS one day too.

MLS is a reasonable place for German washouts with an American passport.

Good move for Jerome. PT will be plentiful. He should be able to produce goals. In addition to younger players this is the type of player USL can / should target. Solid move for all involved.

Wages... Braces... come on guys, he's in Texas. Soon you'll be unironically gobsmacked by his brilliant starlet performance in the next massive derby. And that's why we can't have nice borders.

I was coaching in an El Paso tournament a few weeks ago and had a chance to go see Jerome and El Paso play. Dude was hands down the best player on either team. One or two steps ahead both mentally and physically than everyone. He looked like an MLS-caliber player playing in the USL. And when I mean... "caliber" I mean..... like an actual contributing player not one sent on loan to the USL. I am surprised he didn't get a few looks from MLS teams. I would suspect if he continues this pace, he could get a shot in MLS.

how would you grade MLS' scouting of USL these days?

How open is MLS to picking up USL players to actually play them and not use them for roster filler?

The success rate isn't good. It's been hit or miss. You have examples of Mark-Anthony Kaye as a hit for LAFC and Enzo Martinez for the miss for the Rapids. Those two just immediately come to mind. There maybe more examples. Jerome has a more established or rather longer resume than those two at a higher level, arguably.

Those two examples were played and played often. Kaye blossomed and Martinez finds himself back in the USL. I really think t's all dependent of the club.

struggled to be productive in RL/4th division but doing well in USL.

well on the + side he shouldn't last long before being picked up by an MLS team. Already 26, he needs to establish a career.

"Jerome's a high-level player. Every time we bring in a high-level player everyone's game seems to go up a notch," head coach Mark Lowry said. "A good player makes people around him better."

It was quite the feat for Locomotive FC to score Kiesewetter. The German-American has played in the top division of the German Bundasliga for Fortuna Dusseldorf. He has also made multiple appearances for the United States National Team. However, he was playing out of position for Fortuna Dusseldorf, so when Lowry offered him the chance to be, "The Guy," for El Paso, Kiesewetter couldn't pass it up.

"I saw myself as more of a striker. I played striker for the national team as well," Kiesewetter said. "He saw that in me and that convinced me."

"If you're not fast, or big or strong, but you have that nose and you can score, that's all that counts at the end of the day," he said.

some interesting remarks from him about himself. That's his issue, he's not really a striker suited for high football like 1BL-2BL, which is why he wasn't playing there.
