Manjrekar James joins the top league after doing his time in the second division. He has proved to be a reliable and fast CB for Canada

23 years old RB Juan Cordova is expected to be loaned to Vancouver Whitecaps from Huachipato-Chile 1st Division
Seems like Vancouver will have 3 Canadian Men's National team defenders playing which will certainly help with chemistry

I'm still surprised he's in Mexico and not in some mid-tier European league. And he was in Uruguay before Mexico; whats the story behind how he was playing in the Uruguyan league?

That's his heritage. He and his friend Jonathan Osorio (TFC) had successful trials there as teenagers and lived and played together there. It didn't work out for Osorio so he came back to Toronto, Cavallini stayed.

Disappointed in this move. It might work out, but Garde has shown so far he prefers older players.

Nick Hagglund is now with FC Cincinnati, so the path of obtaining Canadian citizenship in a year or two and gaining one of the starting CB spots for Canada is out. Right now it might be Henry plus James but that's extremely uninspiring, a subpar maybe-starter in MLS and a Danish 2nd-division starter/1st-division bench player, both about to turn 26. For the future, one would hope it's Montgomery (could start for FCD once 33-yo Ziegler quite possibly departs after this season) and then someone else has to step up, maybe a dual-nat recruit. Defense in general, not just CB, is going to be a problem. The left back spot should go to one of the left wingers, then the other three spots are question marks with no clear solutions.

Godhino scores his first goal in Premiership. In my opinion, RB is truly his to lose on the National team.

I put him ahead of Cordova and Brault-guillard

100% agree. I think he sees the bench most of the time this season. A huge shame as he needs the minutes.

Lyon should have loaned him to ligue 2 or another Euro league.

Hoping Montgomery becomes a starter and someone steps up at CB in the CPL.

I've been thinking about a CB duo of Montgomery and Hutchinson, and then have a 3-man midfield of DM Mark-Anthony Kaye, CM Arfield, and AM Wotherspoon. Kaye's MLS play last year was fairly highly rated, he should be starting for LAFC, and it does seem a waste to have one of him or Hutchinson on the bench while trotting out non-international-caliber CBs. I also do think Montgomery should be given a shot with Canada despite not starting for FC Dallas until perhaps next year.

    GK: Borjan
    RB: Godinho
    CB: Hutchinson, Montgomery
    LB (attacking-minded LB): Davies
    M: Kaye, Arfield, Wotherspoon
    LW: Tabla
    RW: Hoilett
    CF: Cavallini

Clearer than ever that it would be inexcusable to start only Tabla (who is a very good prospect in his own right) while benching Davies. Both should start on the left side for Canada.

Canada's Captain Scott Arfield keep producing for Rangers with his 2 assists today. His playmaking will be key for us for the upcoming Nation League and Gold Cup.

Jonathan David scores for Gent. His value is on the rise and could ledlad to a potential move to Bundesliga

We need some young talented defenders to make it a real match. Otherwise we lose 4-2.

On Tuesday, Volkswagen Canada and the Canadian Premier League revealed a founding, multi-year partnership that will include national promotional and media assets in addition to an official jersey sponsorship.

“Soccer is more than just a game; it helps make up a community,” said Daniel Weissland, Volkswagen Canada’s President and CEO. “At Volkswagen, we feel this partnership is a perfect way to help connect communities throughout Canada. We could not be prouder to be a part of this exciting new league.”

The partnership was negotiated by the Canadian Soccer Business (CSB) on behalf of the league. The multi-year deal will allow Volkswagen to uniquely connect with Canada’s growing nation of soccer supporters at all levels.

This after a recent ReThink Management survey found nearly 60% of Canadian soccer fans prefer a top-tier, all-Canadian professional league to additional Major League Soccer franchises operating north of the border.

The same survey found a high level of interest in a hypothetical Canadian first division prior to the Canadian Soccer Association officially sanctioning the CPL in 2017.

Inaugural Game will be on April 27, 2019 at 1pm
(Hamilton) Forge will face (York Region) York 9 at Tim Horton's Field in Hamilton
    Clarification about the U21 rules
The league’s unique rules and regulations are designed to develop homegrown talent. Rosters are predominantly Canadian and clubs are required to insert at least six Canadians into their starting lineups. Three spots on each CPL roster are reserved for players 21 years of age or younger. Similar to comparable league’s around the world, CPL clubs are mandated to feature under-21 players for at least 1,000 combined minutes.

This was their major announcement? They found a sponsor and the first game is April 27th? That's pretty annoying. Does every annoucenment now qualify as major?
