Photos floating around on Twitter from media day (can’t seem to link on my phone) of the Galaxy going to 5 Stars on the uniform this year instead of the lame big star. Galaxy fans happy.
Well they can't all be winners. The important thing is that they tried. They didn't intend for their business to fail. The jury is still out as to whether or not jersey sponsorships can help raise the viability of growing businesses or whether they'll remain thw providence of more established brands who primarily see it as a brand-to-brand networking operation and a byproduct of ingrained prestige. I'd like to believe that it could potentially become both and as such provide even bigger selling points for the FOs in selling these sponsorships and a greater affinity between said sponsors and each side's fanbase but color me optimistic on that point bc there's little data that supports the idea that kit/jersey sponsorships can really provide that type of value. If it can, however, it can be a gamechanger. I think that the only place where it has seemingly worked somewhat successfully in that vein is in the case of online sportsbook sponsors...
After a certain point they'll be lucky to graduate to the point of a Man U where you've won so many titles that you just stop wearing them altogether...
Looks like the top star is gold and the other 4 are transparent, but it could also be the lights playing tricks too. pic.twitter.com/mTb7p0jjdb— 𝕷𝕬 𝕲𝖆𝖑𝖆𝖝𝖞 𝕺𝖀𝕿𝕾𝕯𝕽 (@LAGalaxyOUTSDR) January 20, 2019
At some point it would get ridiculous. I say you get your first star after you won one, then the rest are for milestones. 5th, 10th, etc.
Here’s a leak of the full Toronto primary: Shorts and socks of the new NYCFC primary: And shorts and socks of Houston’s new primary: Looks like the Dynamo’s new primary will be a departure from their traditional orange/white/orange and will instead be mono-orange with black accents.
Honestly, as a tech company in Seattle, I wonder if sponsoring the Sounders is more about branding for recruiting than it is branding for selling the product. It's tough to stand out with Amazon and Microsoft in the area. Of course the best case would be to achieve both. I favor Indeed to be the primary Austin sponsor for that reason.
Here are the shorts and socks of the Timbers’ new primary kit: And here’s a couple updated mockups of what the full kit will likely look like:
The "Official Garment" tape on the sleeves and shoulders of the jacket looks awful. Wayne Rooney was wearing the same style jacket in his recent ESPN FC interview. At least the DC version is black on black.
Yeah, it’s not the best. It’s the new anthem jacket template for this season, though, so all of the teams have one.
I think it’s pretty cool actually. Very Japanese streetwear vibe. I agree it’s best color-on-color (LAFC looks black on black).
Seems Montreal might be getting a Black kit based on this picture on Nacho Piatti. Noticed the black socks too... Here is the Montreal jacket
As it was originally announced, the first Seattle deal was just with "Microsoft" and they decided that XBox would be the product they went with (actually their online gameplay service to be specific for the first kit). I was kind of surprised they never switched it up between product cycles for something like the Surface one year. I guess the Surface Pitch doesn't have a great ring to it...
They signed a 5 year extension in 2014, that deal presumably runs out at the conclusion of the 2019 season. The original deal was for 4 years, beginning in 2011. https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/p...artner-bimbo-bakeries-official-jersey-sponsor
Meh, that ok. They should have kept their logo gold though. I hope the Timbers aren't using the same pattern.
They’re not. In this teaser image of the Timbers shirt, you can clearly see the lines in the hoops are much thinner and closer together, and the hoops themselves are evenly spaced:
