Ricardo Ferreira has been out for a whole year due to a knee injury. A few days ago he made his return, in a substitute appearance with Braga's reserves in the Portuguese second tier. Compared to Tomori and Eustaquio, Ferreira is perhaps a bit more obtainable for Canada. However, probably still not that likely, as he does have a senior friendly cap and Pepe, Fonte, Alves are all age 35+, so he has some chance with them. For all three, the way to get them would be to qualify for WC 2022 and have them on the final roster if they aren't cap-tied by their current countries. Right now, a CB Canada should eye closely is Callum Montgomery, who might be a day one MLS starter depending on who takes him.
Well spun again. Looks like he left Dundee a week ago and was skulking around in the Scottish Championship for the first part of the season...... I am sure Falkirk will miss his 0 goals this season. https://dundeefc.co.uk/news/haber-departs-club/
If everyone were available, the lineup I'd select for WC qualifying might be something like this: Borjan; Davies, Montgomery, Henry, Brault-Guillard; Hutchinson, Arfield, Wotherspoon; Tabla, Cavallini, Hoilett. Then Millar, David, Godinho, Larin as subs. And I do think playing Davies as an offensive-minded left back could be worth it. I don't like the idea of leaving the talent of either Davies or Tabla on the bench while starting a scrub who happens to primarily be a left back. The attacking talent is there but the defense is going to be fairly weak regardless, so I'd say stick to one's strengths.
Ferreira hurt his knee again and will need surgery again. Truly tragic in his case which hurts his chances of being cap by Portugal even more now
And dismissing his record before this season in Championship, Scottish Premiership and MLS. Who's spinning what exactly? If we were to judge every players on 1 season, lots of careers should have been buried. The skills are there for Haber and it's still a great signing for Pacific. On the depth chart, I'd rank him higher at #5 over Tesho Akindele, Anthony Jackson-Hamel and Tossaint Ricketts but behind Larin, Millar, David and Cavallini
He is frustrating to watch but he's in the right chair as a late sub off the bench. David is a better version of him at a younger age in my opinion. Liam Millar can also play as a striker. He was recently handpicked to train with the first team at Liverpool. Cavallini is undeniably our #1 since the 2017 Gold Cup in my opinion. Playing in Liga MX is a massive asset as he's used to the culture and competition in Mexico and can still perform like a top striker. His influence is massive on the pitch making everyone else play better. Great leader as well.
Haber never played in MLS or the Championship, and had one decent season in the SPL. What are you talking about?
USL-level player, signed to a CPL that's going to be USL-level, at a position where Canada has 5 or more better players. This is not big news to be arguing about, IMO. Who is Canada playing in this window? More NL games maybe?
Yeah - doesn't have the best record does he? Never played in the Championship or MLS... 48 goals in 273 games..... Turning heads.... Hahahahaha
My bad, I was going with the Times Colonist which I follow due to their coverage of soccer. I sent them an email for correction regarding the MLS part. https://www.timescolonist.com/sports/pacific-fc-signs-canadian-striker-marcus-haber-1.23588336 I wouldn't say USL level as he can play at SPL level but it's a great signing for a club such as Pacific who aims to operate somewhat similarly like Athletic Bilbao. They aim to have players from British Columbia only and are likely to be the ones spending the least. It is very surprising that they convinced him to go there and the news is treated a big deal in BC. The National team plays French Guiana in March to conclude the Nation League Qualifiers. It's virtually a certainty that Canada plays in League A and done deal for Gold Cup

This is the Canadian Premier League editorial panel depth chart for the national team https://canpl.ca/article/depth-chart-1-0-how-cpl-editorial-sees-canmnt-squad-options-entering-2019 I must say I disagree with a few points CF Should take into account that Millar can also play CF, that would put him ahead of Ricketts, same with David RW : Millar is ahead of Tabla but not by much LW: Akindele is better than Edwini-Bonsu Wotherspoon is way ahead of Chapman They have RB all wrong. Should be Godinho, then Brault-Guillard. Cordova belongs there ahead of Petrasso Can't picture Edwards playing defense
One game, one trophy. Stephen Eustaquio is expected to arrive today, 3 million euro transfer fee. He will play for Cruz Azul in Liga MX. He was being targetted by top Euro clubs. This increases the odds that he will choose Canada I would think. This would add more depth to our midfield. With Hutchinson retiring soon from Canada, Eustaquio would take his place as a starter and push back Samuel Piette as #2 at DM http://espndeportes.espn.com/futbol...aga-3-millones-de-euros-por-stephen-eustaquio

CB Derek Cornelius joins Vancouver Whitecaps Great signing and great opportunity of chemistry between Henry and Cornelius to improve our defense under the coaching of Dos Santos. At a young age, he already proved to be one of our better and reliable CB. Lots of room for improvement. 20 year old RB Zachary Brault-Brillard joins Montreal Impact on loan from Ligue 2 Olympique Lyonnais. He was the captain of the team and already has a contract with the first team in Ligue 1 Olympique Lyonnais.
