I saw elsewhere that Conte (their radio guy) said both Bello and Carleton picked up minor injuries in training and didn't travel. Injuries are not serious, but enough to keep them from playing yesterday. Realize that others are saying similar, but this was a little more specific.
I sort of doubt Tata would've started them anyways just because I don't have much faith in his decision making with carleton and bello, but man Atl really could've used them yesterday to add more attacking inventiveness.
Didn't play. Very nice of Atlanta to be up three goals with ten minutes left having made no subs, yet Bello and Carleton weren't able to get into the game.
I initially posted this in the wrong thread. I hope so, as well. I saw this the other week. How good is this guy? Is he more of a signing for Atlanta United 2 or is he being brought in as competition for Bello? Is this rumor even true? Jugador de la Sub-20 de Panamá jugaría en el ATLANTA UNITED de la MLS... #duroalhueso 💣 https://t.co/WgUe7q0PyE— Álvaro Martínez (@duroalhueso) November 17, 2018
Yeah I'd bet AU2. Based off what Darren Eales said in his Extratime interview and the players AUFC currently has, I bet Bello shares time with Jose Hernandez and McCann next year. Eales definitely didn't say that Bello will be the starter, but he said that he will contribute more.
While MLS players around the league were enjoying their vacation, George Bello was at home cramming protein bars and experiencing adolescence. pic.twitter.com/YTM7TLICwC— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) January 15, 2019
The kid missed around in the off-season and got yoked and it's hardly been a month. Nature is crazy. He looks bigger in this photo, too Feels great to be back🦋|| Part 3 begins pic.twitter.com/v0CpJvXrFo— George Bello (@_georgebello) January 15, 2019
Seriously though the only highlight I’ve seen of him was the goal he scored for Atlanta and the Roberto Carlos comparison came to mind.
Does mlssoccer.com actually update the height/weight info in player profiles every preseason? They should. No weight listed for bello... https://www.mlssoccer.com/players/george-bello
Interesting USA today article about Bello with a few good tidbits: - One year his old club team, Alpharetta Ambush, they played in England and Manchester City and Everton both wanted him - AUFC is adding a full-time scout for the Carolinas - The academy director acknowledges that everyone thinks the AUFC is very athletic and wishes that their reputation was based on intelligence of play.... https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor..._medium=&utm_term=&utm_content=&utm_campaign=
Gutted to have to miss this due to injury. I'm confident I'll be healthy and fit very soon ready to compete again. I have so much faith in this group of players that they’ll qualify for the World Cup! Good luck to the boys ❤️🇺🇸 https://t.co/s6YybLA8NT— George Bello (@_georgebello) April 22, 2019
If he had started training again I would think he would have gotten sub minutes at least with ATL2. Unless he hasn’t returned to training, or had a setback.
fwiw he is back in training for Atlanta, but not 100% ready to go. Probably won't see him this week/weekend, but maybe next weekend
