The scary thing is AFA official FB posted about Romero being MOTM of MU instead.

I believe it is Sarri making the push for him and I believe Paredes' fee will be a decent amount. Zenit won't let go of him cheap, which is probably why Serie A teams are not willing to pay a large fee(A large fee in the Serie A is peanuts in the EPL). Perhaps, he'll play a more offensive role at Chelsea, I don't know, I am not exactly sure how they set-up without having to look. But I think he wants a new challenge, he's still young and I think he's had just enough borscht and vodka for him to make an exit. He also hasn't been shy about talking about leaving.

As for PSG... I don't like it, that is a club that does not have a challenge. It is fools gold. Hell, Di Maria scores freely in that league. Plus, PSG fans are quite upset that they gave up Lo Celso and are desperate to get him back but as I have mentioned before, he's not going to return to France and Betis will pay for his transfer-fee. They know what they have with him.

Frustrating to lose him after he's only played a couple games for the first team.

Chelsea are getting long in the tooth so I think it would be an opportunity for Paredes. Would be cool to have both him and Pulisic to watch regularly.

Gazzaniga had a good game vs Chelsea. Seen some comments on the Tottenham Hotspur's forum saying that he should start ahead of Lloris. With Benitez, Gazzaniga, Musso and maybe Werner (I still have a bit of hope for Rulli, but the dude is inconsistent), the NT has a good pool of GK and let's hope they develop nicely.

Never heard of Benitez, where does he play?

I think Agustin Rossi will pan out into a top goalie too.

Benítez plays for Nice in France.

Armani right now should be undisputed #1. He has earned that right. I don't see his age as a factor, for one, he isn't old, as GK's still play at a high level and he has been a proven winner. He's probably been the competent GK we've had since...maybe Pato and before him... Roa..., which I am sure is still waiting for the world come to an end.

Now, with Armani between the pipes and if we get our defense in order, we should be able to contend for the CA. The only team that I see that will be ahead of us are the hosts, but perhaps pressure to win the title from the players and the managers could be a factor against them.

    --------
In the never-ending, transfer (rumor) market, Icardi is being linked to Chelsea as well. Abramovich apparently wants to replace Morata. I doubt that happens during this market but Chelsea could make a move for him maybe in the summer.

I think the backline of what we saw vs Brazil of Saravia, Pezzella, Otamendi, Tagliafico will be our main back 4 for the Copa. I'm not that fond of Otamendi but as long as he keeps Muri away then Otamendi gets my vote. Armani should definitely be our #1.

Speaking of Chelsea and Argentines, it looks like they’re closing in on Higuain (some sources are reporting that terms have already been agreed) after a failed transfer attempt in June.

If it goes through as it seems it will, Pipita will have a career that is the envy of any footballer: River Plate, Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, Milan, Chelsea. Wow

Leonardo ripped Fatso a new one.. "He is here right now. Seeing as he is here, he needs to get down and actually do something for this team. He has to take responsibility.”

    Leonardo deserves a statue.

Anyone familiar with Cristian Romero? 20 year old CB with U-20 NT experience... Currently playing for Genoa as a regular starter despite his young age.

European papers are linking him to Juventus and Inter, with Juve having already met with Genoa’s president to discuss possible terms.

Hopefully the current U20 lot will win the SA youth championship or at least qualify for the WYC.

Last time around Argentina did won the SA youth championship but performed like crap in both WYC & Olympic.

Incredible what happened to AC Milan. They went from being the elite team of the CL, the standard bearers, to a second rate club of the status of Espanyol. All of this in the span of four years (07 to 11). Amazing how Guardiola's Barca changed the football landscape.

I don't blame Higuain for feeling he can do better at Chelsea, a team like AC Milan cannot surround him with players of his level, Laxalt and Ricardo Rodriguez the only ones close to his level.

Yeah it's pretty mindblowing. Italian football is so much worse off for it, too.

You can say that about all of Italian football. The 80’s and 90’s(and even before), it was the preeminent footballing league in Europe. You had a mix of great foreign born players and great Italian players. Now, the Italians can’t produce great players anymore and they can’t match the salaries that is the EPL. It is a shame but perhaps new investors could reignite the league.

As for Fatso, his days are done. If he ends up at England, he’ll probably choke there for a season or two... Then end up at the MLS and choke some more and finally, play a final year or two at River and... you guessed it, choke a bit more.

Walter Sabatini(No, not related to those Sabatini‘s), for Palermo director said something many of us have been echoing for years about Pastore.

“There are many players who disappointed me over the years. An example is Pastore, who at Palermo played the kind of football that you can only imagine in your dreams. Then he went to PSG and rested on his laurels, just put his feet up and coasted.

“It’s so sad, because he could’ve achieved so much.”

I think Pastore is far and away one of the biggest disappointments we’ve had in the last decade or so. I was hopeful about him and moving to France really destroyed his career. He was really special during his time at Huracán and Palermo.

19 year old promising midfielder Alexis MacAllister just made a move to the Premier League. He has already shown plenty of potential, so it will be interesting to see how he continues growing.

The son of Carlos. It is a bit amusing that he has another son and his name is Kevin. His father must’ve really loved Home Alone...

Also, Balerdi is on his way to Germany to take his medical and finalize his move to Dortmund. A good move, IMO. He can play in a strong league for a good club.

It is hard not get excited having many young and promising defenders.

Granted it is only Benevento(Serie B side) but Lautaro scored two more goals today in the Coppa Italia. He started in the first half with Icardi and was invisible. Icardi was subbed off at HT, and within a couple minutes of the second half he score a good header. He was basically in the MF for the first half and it just wasn’t working. He’s became far more threatening when he became the CF.

Amazing what happens when you play your players in their natural position.

Yeah. He made his professional debut for Belgrano in 2016. We didn't see the best of him. He was rushed and made a few too many silly mistakes that cost us matches. On top of that, we were going through a rough patch. Many fans didn't like him, he was often cheeky and overconfident with the ball.

He had great defending technique and very good qualities. He has enormous potential, methinks. If he is eager to learn, he has a bright future.

Maldini retired. Gattuso, Seedorf, Nesta, and Inzaghi declined. We sold Kaka and Pirlo. We put all our eggs in Pato’s basket and he turned out to be a flop. We tried short term solutions like Ronaldinho and Beckham and that failed. Now here we are.

Manchester United had a similar decline, but the PL has a lot more money than Serie A, so they will continue to throw money at their problems until they go away. Italian clubs cannot do that.

Lo Celso with another assist today against Real Madrid. Real Betis lost 1-2 but dominated most of the match. I never thought I would see the day when Madrid park the bus against Betis.

Sorry, to me those are merely circumstantial details, there is a lot more than the retirement of three or four players making or breaking an elite football tradition. The changes that Guardiola brought to the forefront also affected the Italian NT, possibly because it had built its success and such a strong identity linked to a style that was completely contrarian to what Guardiola proposed. I think what really hurt Italy was that it continued to believe in its own catenaccio style, having had won the WC in 2006, which made them too slow to adapt to what would be an almost sudden change to the way football is played and critiqued.

Of course, Italian clubs could have just built their squads almost exclusively from foreign players barring two or three token nationals, like ManU, ManCity, Arsenal, Chelsea, but I feel that for the Italians this is a matter of pride and if they go down, they will at least do it with an Italian identity. Anyways, wish you the best of luck on a comeback, AC Milan is a historical reference club, it should not be struggling as it is now while teams like Chelsea or Paris Saint Germain are considered cream of the crop.
