I watched again the 2-2 draw we did with Brazil two months ago. I'm really afraid regarding GK Mier. He has lack of confidence, he makes a lot of mistakes. It was also like this in the U-17. And he is Nacional's GK. I hope we won't regret for choosing him to be the no.1 because I saw him in several matches and honestly I have 0 confidence in his ability.

Actually it's worst. I had much more confidence in Bonilla when he was at this age. Mier can still improve but so far he has been very poor.

You are correct regarding Mier. "The problem" of Nacional is that in the last decade we had very good keepers so the younger keepers couldn't really get a chance. Even Cristian Vargas had to wait so much time until he got his real chance. But Mier's situation is very difficult plus I really didn't see something special from him. On the contrary. I hope we won't get screwed because of him.

You guys are too critical of him. I actually think that he is the one with the most potential, he has great positioning, height, strong legs and reflexes (the first is something that to me makes a great goalkeeper over the other three), what he lacks is experience. Bonilla was never this good when he was that young and he received much more game time than Mier has.

He needs to start relying more in his positioning than in his physical prowess, because he tends to go outside of the box and that shit tends to get dangerous, but it's because he really trusts his coordination and speed. This is something that he will only get with experience, and he isn't getting it at Nacional.

To be honest, I didn't see him beside the national team, but when I saw, he was awful with tons of mistakes. Of course that experience is very important and maybe some day he will be a very good keeper but if we referring to this tournament, in my opinion this is our weakest spot.

Hopefully they send him to 2nd division and he gets minutes. He doesn’t run to Europe or abroad after the youth cup.

Even if a Colombian keeper gets experience in the Colombian League I am concerned about the way it translates to the international game. They will see things they have never seen with a lot of aerial play, set pieces and physicality we just dont see in Colombia.

When a kid has absolutely no experience like Mier it makes me even more convened
Hopefully the players in front of him play up to their potential because we do not want games coming down to the play of an inexperienced keeper.

As for Cucho and Sinisterra, they won't play in the tournament because their teams refused to release them?

Si, lo que se entiende para Cucho pero es un poco mas sorprendente para Sinisterra que casi no juega sino con la primera de Feyennord. Quizas cuentan con el para la segunda mitad de la temporada

A bunch of teams are interesed in loaning him. Hopefully he goes on loan, otherwise I'll be very pissed with Feyenoord.

FIFA really needs to make a modification requiring clubs to lend the player for these type of decisive tournaments. It's actually good business sense as well. Would also love a sub-20 Copa America. It could even be played as the 'warm-up' match prior to the seniors coming on and playing their match. Come on Conmebol get some strategy of your own!

Cucho proved to me he should be in the mix for Copa America not this tournament.

Unless he does a Neymar and play in the Sudamericano and not in the World Cup which would be kind of counter-productive.

Why not? Even Messi played the U20 WC/Sudamericano. I think he should at least be able to be in the mix.

But Messi did It when he was 17. In my opinion if we don't get any other realistic options or someone extremely good comes along in the Next few months then Cucho should be with the senior team just because of all the variations and unpredictability he can bring to the Game.

Cucho will not be able to play in both the Sub 20 World Cup and the Copa America. They are just too close to each other. It is just one or the other.
The Senior team will be playing important friendlies when the Sub 20 World Cup is in session.

He can play in the Sudamericano hypothetically but I think that would be counter-productive because we need the team to get cohesion with players who will actually be in Poland (assuming we qualify.)

El jueves arranca el sudamericano sub 20.

Jueves 17 Colombia vs Venezuela 5:10 PM
Sábado 19 Colombia vs Brasil 5:10 PM
Lunes 21 Colombia vs Bolivia 5:10 PM
Viernes 25 Chile vs Colombia 7:30 PM

Asumo que están en horario chileno. Así que en Colombia deben ser 2 horas menos.
