Morata just needs to change his number again.

An 18 month deal with Higuain seems a lot better than 50 million for CALLUM WILSON.

Or we could play Drinkwater as a false nine

He will likely be headed right back out

That 18 month deal will cost more than he’s worth and even if it is loan with no requirement to buy what happens if the ban happens. Then we’re screwed. We should be solely focused on buy Icardi and loaning (not selling) Morata.

i agree fully with this. break the bank for a proper striker, and keep morata on the books for now for full flexibility going in to possible transfer ban.

as for the "morata just needs a change of scenery" hypothesis, i actually think that's probably true. i think he goes somewhere and does really well. i do think a lot of his problems are mental and he'll go down in the long list of didn't make it at chelsea but was good somewhere else list.

Could I also ask that Chelsea spend big money on a world class sports psychiatrist as well. So many of our big signings turn out to be somewhat fragile this request is only half in jest. If we have one, fire them, they aren't good.

But also, yes, no stopgap measures if a viable and long term replacement is a possibility. I refuse to get my hopes up though, wouldn't be very Chelsea-like of me :D

He will go down - that we know. He kinda flops over rather than holding the ball up. I like him. Seems like a nice lad. But Real Madrid didn't want him and they needed a striker and that says a lot in hindisght.

We should target Timo Werner... just saw his deal is up 2020. Willing to bet if we come in with a solid offer for RB and a very good wage package both will bite before RB lose him for a free to Bayern.

Amazing that Fabregas has not moved yet. It seems like everyone except those in charge at the club knew he was leaving and we had no replacement in place.

Barella seems to not want to come so next up is Paredes?

I know Michy hasn't really been a hit but he sure can finish. Our team does create a lot but just can't finish. I think he has the potential to do decent. Hopefully we are thinking about it.

He'll be gone. When he's on, he can be very good. But reports say he needs lots of warmth and coddling; plus he is very immature.

I'd like to give him a chance, but all of the managers who have hated working with him know more than I do.

Werner certainly is a solid prospect who I think will move soon. But I think he has good options in Germany, namely Munich and Dortmund.

But yeah, all he does is score goals. Not sure what type of system Leipzig plays.

Reading Bats would go for around 14m? Maybe 15m too short

That’s what Everton want it said Chelsea want 30 something. We will win that. They paid 27 for the Turkish striker who flopped.

Yea I’d take that deal (especially if Cho is leaving) but only if we’re prepared to land a few other key players... Icardi and Isco mainly. Otherwise we will likely struggle to stay top 4 which would be a lock to lose Hazard.

Yeah, dunno how we'd make up for his 2 goals so far. The struggle would be real.

    Read some articles this morning...

Supposedly Barca only want Willian so they can eventually sell him on to China and make some money from it.

Also, Morata's agent is the one reaching out to other teams... Atl Madrid, Barca and Seville and not the other way around. Sevilla interested but probably can't afford him.

I'd assume we'll probably only see one addition this window to replace Fab and that's it.

    (Hazard is leaving anyway...)

If the China Willian thing is true, why would Barca tell him that. Not very wise. I think a lot of this is hogwash.

Could be why Chelsea want to keep him and possibly offload to China in the summer themselves

    But again nothing but speculation

Also selling him now would probably disrupt the team moral

Fabregas to Monaco official now. i'd like to think this means the club feel pretty strongly that the replacement is close.

Hadn't thought of that before, to be honest. A lot of people don't realize the role this plays in the locker room and training ground. Luiz and Willian are best friends.

I think this summer we'll see the release of both.
