Does anyone know how many season tickets we sold in 2018? I have been hunting around the web for a while and can only find estimates.

Update on the ticket count I have passed 9k on a very conservative count and still have a decent chunk of the stadium to go.

As was mentioned, I’m taking the bus. Looking forward to it despite not knowing anyone going. Life experience and all.

Can I bang the Make the new stadium bigger drum again?

With the logic that your low attendance games are going to stay the same at either size. Your normal attended games will remain the same at either size.
But it we artificially cap the big ticket games at 20k, our average will never get beat that 19k high water mark. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And again we already have 2 venues (maybe 3 with Mapfre hanging around) that can handle to the 20k type events, let's get something bigger, to bring in bigger events.

I just cant get over that we are going to have our 2nd soccer specific stadium. Crew Stadium was a jewel when it was built but the game has changed since and newer and flasher stadiums opened. Now we are going to again be at the top of the league in facilities. How incredible is it this club from the beginning is defining the league.

Also, did anyone see the interview Don gave after the press conference? He said they have been trying to get into this part of town for years? Really? Pretty sure a large part of the land for this project was offered previously.

Not sure if it was a jewel but it was the building that saved the league. The best way to say thanks is shitting on the fans.

    I saw the interview. Garber's a tool.

I played against the Fort Wayne team with the Beasley brothers in a tournament back in 96-97. We won, but remember both kids were lightning quick.

It was my junior year in high school (so, 16/17 yo) before this finally clicked for me against the top guys. Back then for us, that was Findlay. They had their own SSS back then even for H.S. Talk about the hoity-toyties. They did have All-State players to go with that SSS. Anyways, I digress. Push them out wide, wait for help to come, and contain. That was also the first year I was playing full time starter varsity minutes at RB. I actually remember the moment it happened clearly, and at half time the coach singling me out for the 'thank you Mary, someone is finally getting it' shout out. Of course, I had to do something to make up for that throw in back to keeper that was a poor choice and resulted in a goal allowed. Sigh.

My guess would be whatever open cup game attendance was against Chicago, as that was a “pre loaded game”

Bang that drum all you want. Your argument still doesn't make much sense to me. The issue is with your "low and normal attendance games are going to stay the same at either size" statement. For the teams in MLS that truly draw well, no, that's not the case. I do think we're in general agreement that something a bit bigger than 20k would be nice, but for me that's maybe 22k, and you seem to want to go bigger than that. Trouble is, you go too big, and you remove the sense of ticket scarcity, which torpedoes season ticket sales, which further depresses those low attendance game numbers.

By events you mean what, concerts? Mapfre holds 30k for concerts.

Quality stuff. Love me some Beas.

Personally, I was batting a couple of names around in my head until I remembered that I played a few half-drunk futsal games with the man, the myth, the legend, Otto Orf.

They don’t make em like they used to, kids.

Absolutely. 5/15/99 was a glorious day and it set a new level for soccer stadiums in America. But it wasn't ever a palace it was a last roll of the dice. I'll always love that place.

My mom lived right across the street from Honey Hut for a year or so when I was six or seven. It was in a duplex and the Honey Hut owners lived below us. They gave me a Honey Hut t-shirt that I frequently wore because it was the coolest thing ever to me at that time.

Finally found the STM records for the last five years. For those interested....

    2013: 7,000
    2014: 8,000
    2015: 9,000
    2016: 10,000*
    2017: 9,000
    2018: 6,000*

Tim Myers did a great data breakdown on this earlier in the year on twitter and cited all the sources you would need for 2013-2017. Most seasons are based in interviews the FO gave over the prior seasons performance. They did not release the exact numbers but provided rough estimates.

For instance, in regards to the 2013 season they said it was nearly 7,000 and in 2014 they said they added nearly 1000 new STM from the prior year.

*2016 was based on articles which laid out forecasts provided the prior year and weren't connected to anything confirmed by the FO that season.

*2018 was based on a Dispatch article I found.

Actually, after looking up the history, the people below us weren't the owners. In my little kid mind they were. Nonetheless, they and that shop took good care of me in terms of ice cream and a cool t-shirt.

Events like ... the current one at Mapfre that is moving because Mapfre isn't big enough. (Rock on the Range) Yah, those type of events.

I do want bigger than 22k. I would like to have a stadium similar in size to the one Cincinnati is building. Same metro size, no reason we can't draw the same amount of fans.

    Nashville $225 million 30K seats
    Cincinnati $250 million 26.5K seats
    Miami $1 billion 25k seats
    Orlando $155 million 25.5k seats
Portland $70 Million expansion to 25K seats

There was also 3 stadiums that open in the 19k-22k, but I think (hope) we can be part of the bigger (better?) MLS 3.0 that has higher season attendance. And we will need a bigger stadium to do that.

And call it petty, but if that ex-owner who shall not be named, builds a stadium down in Austin, I want ours to kick his ass. And I want to have a legit chance for our season average to kick their season average. Field of Dreams baby! Build it and lets find a way to get them to come.
