In terms of the league, maybe, maybe not. Though the TV package supports you.

But we are not the red headed stepchild in terms of our own ownership anymore. That is an important step up.

Eff the league. We do not need them to succeed. When we start succeeding, then Garber & Twellman will slob our knobs (like SKC), but not before.

Well, Minny signed Ozzie Alonso after all that. Though, Seattle says it was via free agency. So, yeah....

None to zero. Garber may not like Columbus but there is no way he is going to let one of the wealthiest ownership groups in MLS history (which we are now) walk.

Plus remember Garber isn't some MLS godhead. He is the commissioner and serves at the pleasure of the BoG. If the Haslams decide Garber is making their life hard they will call their friend Arthur Blank who will call his friend Robert Kraft and Garber will be gone before you can blink.

Alright, computing JB-CBUS221's TM numbers with BigStern's spreadsheet yields this, with all the appropriate caveats:

    Sold out sections = Nordecke, 103, 124 = 2,292 + 393 + 427 = 3,112
    Approx ST sold in other reported sections = 4,172 (403 + 1,415 + 2,354). Sec104 = 403 (428-25) + Secs 105-108 = 1,415 (1,615-200) + Secs 123 + 125-129 = 2,354 (2,434-80).

Total pseudo-science STH in those sections = 7,284.

Caveats: of course, renewals being held, mini's, and whatever TM antics go on could be overstating the numbers.

At the same time, those numbers do not include any STH from the rest of the stadium, nor whatever totals that mini's & partials will add to the number (and the will add some).

    I'd eat Swenson's for dessert after Culver's.

This is acceptable, as long as it's in addition to a main course from Swenson's.

this is close to what I got for those sections. I am working my way through the entire stadium right now and just wrapped up the lower bowl. I will post what I have tonight and lay out the approach I used. Then all the cynics can have at me.

Current count in the lower bowl alone is over 8500.

    Me neither.

Yet a simple search for Xavier Balc turned that up rather easily...and if that's what came up, it really does appear Xavier Balc has truly disappeared.

Also obligatory mention of Danny Szetela.

I was at that draft and it was painful, just from a human standpoint -,,yes I have an actual heart ,- to watch the players reserved seating section completely cleared out except for Xavier Balc and his mom.

Many many people were sure he'd go #1

To this day I don't get it. Unanimous All American, Big Ten POTY, captain on NCAA runner up and nothing.

But what I remember most is watching them sit there all alone.

Our first round pick that year was part of what got us Pat Noonan.
We also picked up Alex Grendi and a couple others who rapidly disappeared.

He would have made a great Mr. Irrelevant...the guy with hometown connections, last pick, why not?

Anyone going on the bus trip to the SuperDraft tomorrow?

I am also looking to see if anyone would be willing to pick up/sell a copy of today’s Dispatch, as I assume they will be gone by the time I pull into Columbus.

    Thank you!

Although he is younger, Mookie played against him several times.

As a defender, Mook didn't particularly fear the guy. He said he had one move, which was a shake and bake since he was so blindingly fast that if he got even.with you he was gone and you had no hope other than to bring him down

Mook used to simply deny him the inside line, forcing him out wide, and just not bite on anything he did. Going for the tackle was suicide but if you kept your feet you could stay goal side of him.

My whole thing with Kiki was that if my 15/16 year old could figure him out and keep him from shooting, how much easier for college and pro players and coaches.

Ha. Played against him in High School. I heard he was going to play for a semi-pro team in Youngstown a couple of years back, but the team never got off the ground.
