I know N-Rod spews BS but anyone hear his interview ExtraTimeRadio? I thought it was a great interview and great questions with Nelson...pushing the interview on some of his questions.Notes from that interview: Basics: We need at least another CB(even if we bring back Johan). Wants to bring in a #10. We have offers for a few players that are the 'closest': GK which we will have an answer before preseason on. Very high profile CB with a lot of experience that we need an answer on by end of month. Another attacking player that isn't a #10 but feels would help the team greatly. Also noted that one of the offers for a player above, they may have agreed to terms with however, they cannot get the player unless if the other team finds someone to replace him.
More importantly he spoke about how he “might” be wrong in his valuation methods for players. With that said, I’ll believe it when I see it.
I think I know who all three of those players are. The one that's public already is Ojeda, the "not #10". Of the other two the GK will probably be a good pick up in terms of marketability and the CB might be, but the CB probably won't be signing here.
Agreed, that was good to hear. Again, I thought the ExtraTimeRadio guys did a great job pressing him with questions, either asking him to elaborate on his answers or bringing up the league shifting with more teams spending more money.
Care to drop some hints? Haha. I hope Bastian is helping us out in recruiting. Same with Arne....they love the city so much, hopefully they can help bring some people here.
Scotland isn't exactly a step up from MLS in play. I would argue it's a step down , just a pay raise for guys like Gutman and Polster. It will also give them better exposure to clubs in England and possibly Europe. My sources also have told me Gutman didn't impress that much in training with Rangers . They have scores of younger players at his level in the system already- players they don't have to waste time and resources trying to get his work permit . I can't comment on Celtics sudden interest in Gutman . I have no sources at parkhead , my Ibrox source laughed when I asked about it. Not that it was laughable , more that it could come back to haunt Rangers . On Polster , Rangers have a loan deal in place if his Work permit is denied . My understanding his points dont add up and it will be tough. I can't comment on where it will be , but this is an informed guess - Eredivisie . Polster is gone , he'll never play for the Fire again.
If I'm right, our next DP will be Blanco-level in stature; but I'm not sure how we're gonna sign him.
He will partner Schweinsteiger in central defense. We will pay $14,000,000 a season for converted attacking players playing in central defense. Oh, I had a horrible, horrible thought of Danhole Kelly rambling on about "Schweinie and Lewie in defense." I have to go and vomit now.
Are we signing Lubos Kubik? If not, your statement is not true. If it is true, Lubos is an old man. Oh, crap, he just one year older than me! I thought he was much older than that.
It's amazing only die hard fire fans still talk about Lubos. He is likely the most pivotal defender in MLS history . Every young DM/CB should watch reels of him bossing from the back. At the end if the day as fire fans , we've lucked out by getting to watch some real legends over the years. Lubos , Nowak , Hristo , Blanco , and Bastian ... I know we've fallen behind over the years , but I think LA is the only club that has a similar list of legends.
I did some research into this and so using that as a guideline, I found that there's only a couple teams that have any sort history of bringing in foreign players of that caliber: Columbus: Robert Warzycha, Guillermo Barros Schelotto DC United: Marco Etcheverry Orlando City: Kaka NYCFC: David Villa, Frank Lampard (underperformed), Andrea Pirlo (underperformed) Montreal Impact: Didier Drogba, Alessandro Nesta, Marco Di Vaio LA Galaxy: David Beckham, Giovani Dos Santos, Jonathan Dos Santos, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robbie Keane, Jorge Campos NYRB: Roberto Donadoni (underperformed), Lothar Matthaus (underperformed), Thierry Henry, Bradley Wright Phillips, Shaun Wright Phillips, Rafa Marquez (underperformed), Tim Cahill
Friedrich, as possibly my second favorite Fire player after Lubos. At least defender. Nowak probabaly beats him in my heart of hearts, as well as Stoitchkov. But damn those are some great names. Let Schweinsteiger play as an attacker and join them!
