sadly though, in the past ten years, we have only convincingly won once against china. one of the saddest day of my life was losing a family member. one of the next saddest days of my life was losing 0-3 to china in 2010. i know, i know, eaff without europe stars blah blah but still. crazy thing was, i had a dream the night before we'd lose 3-0 and we did. depressing. also they have koreaphobia which probably makes them play harder whenever they face us. so i don't expect an easy match. by the third match they will probably have found their groove and i expect a tougher-than-expected game.

agreed. bad face-palm worthy passes, but i'm sure the momentum will pick up next match and hopefully we'll be comfortable by the time we face china. the saudi match worried me because you don't just switch gears and get awesome two days after a friendly match that has all these holes and flaws. i thought we were pretty weak when countered and at times some defenders were too easily beaten. i hope SHM wreaks havoc against china and in the knockout stages.

Yea, I think Lee Jae-sung and Hwang Hee-chan are decent full back candidates. But for the time being, I will roll with Hwang. He's the first proper winger we had since Lee Chun-soo and he can still beat men 1 on 1 on a good day. When Kwon Chang-hoon returns, the story may change.

How do you rate KNT on first match? Most definitely you get better by adding Son to the roster.

    (Philippines fan here)

Watching the extended highlights, many chances were missed by your guys, and the Philippines made a good showing with the few that they had -- the one by Patino came very close to scoring that goal.

Having watched your team since 2002 (they were one of my favorites in that WC) I keep thinking that they would come back to that same form, hope that they would come back to that same electric form, but they seem to consistently disappoint. Of course I was hoping that they would disappoint completely for this game....

Putting on my objective mode, I'll have to be blunt in saying this is a team that is in poor form. Something needs to be done or they won't make it far in this tournament. If a better team were given the chances that were given to the Philippines, it would be a sad state of affairs.

Hwang hee chan has the pace, physicality/strength, and the workrate to make it work as a right back. And hwang is the better technical player than cha was so he may even provide more value as a RB. Defensively, it’s an enigma at this point but Cha didn’t completely embarrassed himself so maybe Hwang might able to pull it off

We'll do better as we progress further in the tournament. This is bento's first tournament for this team. I'm sure he'll make adjustments. Also we will be a different team once Sonny is on the team.

PS. Hoping that the Azkals beat china this friday.

Worst: KJC. So many pass misses by this guy that led to dangerous counterattacks. Please, fking retire already.

Best: HHC. He made a lot of mistakes, but still, he did the most work on the field..

HHC was the danger man in our team yesterday. He created a lot of chances for us in the final third.

korea didnt miss many chances. korea converted garbage balls into shots on target and eventually scored one. in the past it was more usual for korea to create goal scoring chances and completely miss the net. in many ways korea has regressed but goal scoring is the biggest part of the game so it evens out i guess

i agree that filipino players defended well good job on your guys. a little more patience and concentration on the other end and philippines would have gotten away with a point or more

With how absolutely shite LY is, we really need to consider using HHC or any of our other midfielders as a makeshift RB.

Yes he has had 1 goal in 11 appearances at Serie B as a Forward and did well at a U23 competition with teammates UiJo and Son. This is what we call good these days?

Apart from dribbling, I fail to understand what we expect from LSW. He isn't an advanced playmaker, he isn't clinical, he isn't strong aerially/physically, his workrate is average, he lacks experience. There's a reason Bento is keeping him on the bench.

I have to agree here. I do think we are overrating LSW just because he’s a Barca kis. He has a decent skillset and talent, but there really isn’t one attribute in his game that stands out at the moment. He isn’t going to beat out a guy with his pace, his shooting hasn’t been proven to be clinical at the professional level, above average passer if we are being generous. I think he’s a good dribbler but not great.

Hopefully i’m wrong about him and he becomes a huge asset for us, but as of right now, i’m not convinced he’s going to be huge for us like Son/Ki. He has time tho
