You do well at Celtic and that haggis tastes so much better served on a gold plate. You bomb, and it tastes worse than the paper plate you earned.
What’s the striker situation currently for the Bhoys? How do you see him fitting in with the current squad?
Rodgers has used a 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1 almost exclusively this season. It’s heavy on the attack and it’s heavy on the relentless press. That front 4 has consistented of combination of James Forrest and Scott Sinclair on the wings, Ryan Christie / Callum McGregor playing behind either Odsonne Edouard and teenager Michael Johnston, who’s s been recently favored. Leigh Griffiths, who’s out with gambling addiction, fit in there too but his season, due to his issues, has a struggle. As to where Weah fits in.....Edouard is massively talented but massively inconsistent and found his way to the bench as a super sub. Sinclair was been deployed as the “lone striker” in the last 3 league matches and has been sensational scoring a hat trick against Aberdeen. Many including myself would like to see him continue in that role - even if he’s not a typical # 9. This creates an open spot on the wings and where Weah could be placed. Celtic is not a cross the ball into the “bigs” type team. Those wingers are expected to play narrow and cut inside either for opportunities on goal or the chance to slip a pass in behind the defense. Bias aside, I think on paper, Weah fits into Rodgers scheme like a glove. Weah won’t come in and immediately start. It won’t be a walk in the park to grab any spot despite what outsiders think but I have no doubt he can be utilized to the best of his abilities. I feel better that it’s being reported as an 18-month loan. It buys time. I think if it were a 6-month loan many Americans would be antsy and unhappy Weah wasn’t getting a full 90 right off the bat.
Yea 4-2-3-1 when you’re always attacking...I think the wing is a good spot for him. Personally I hope he ends up starting every other game or so by April/May. Cameos for the first 4-6 weeks, occasional start maybe. It’ll be great experience for him to fight his way into the team, get used to a very different playing style, learn a new language, etc.
Glaswegian comes in very handy when you're drink because it's the language that everyone specks when they're drunk.
The fans in the Celtic forums knew it was 18 months from the start. Celtic is as high as you can go there, with Champions guaranteed, although someone punks them before reaching the group stage more often than not.
your memory is waaaay different than mine. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2014...oses-utrecht-loan-spell-man-match-performance just JK didn't rate agudelo doesnt mean he wasn't doing well in the netherlands....he shoulda been in Brazil imo.... you alluded to it but luck often plays a WAAY bigger role in who is successful and who isn't - yeah there are sure-fire can't miss players who would make it anywhere - but they are the minority even among players who do make it, imo gyau was on the cusp - first team appearances for BVB and good showings for USMNT - he's the type of player that had everything necessary to be a mainstay on the USMNT -just had bad lcuk and a bad field for a money-grab USMNT game that effed him. tons of stories like where his not making it really hd nothing to do with his "level"
Pass the Rosetta Stone, Scottish Edition- Tim Weah at Celtic Or maybe something Catholic-themed... Time for Confession - Tim Weah at Celtic
OFFICIAL. Kind of disappointed it's only for the rest of the season, but oh well. @bungadiri, now you can change the title. ✍🇺🇸 #WelcomeWeah#CelticFC are delighted to announce that @ussoccer_mnt forward, Timothy Weah has joined the club on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of this season. 🍀➡️ https://t.co/UODQqSXjWq pic.twitter.com/GEb8QqkwVI— Celtic Football Club (@CelticFC) January 7, 2019
Disappointed that it’s a 6-month loan but if I had to guess that loan will be extended if he shows well. It makes too much sense. Regardless, now that it’s a 6-month loan, Weah’s got a short time to impress so he’s gotta hit the ground running starting with the training camp in Dubai. The pressure is on for the kid and I can’t wait to see him step up to the plate. It’s a massive opportunity to play in front of the Celtic faithful and under Rodgers tutelage.
Im in the not disappointing it's 6 months camp. if he shows out then he will be in line for a loan to a better league... plus it is the Scottish league
A Weah man at a wee club? How can a Tim be a Hoop? Tim Sellick: Glaswegian PI! Tim O'Shanty. A Weah lad in Glasgow. I could do this all day!
