“The hard working McKennie”? WM May be the smartest player in our pool. He knows everything going on around him...
for training with his new club for just a week, he looked really solid. calm on the ball. it's not surprising to those that watched him with RBNY. the kid just has it.
I thought he had a very good game. Clean in possession, great pressing instincts, won tackles. Also playing at a higher level helps highlight how smart he is of a player.
He's a good young player but nothing really distinguishes him in the big pool of international footballing talent. Another 5'6" American wunderkid who will try to measure up to out-sized expectations.
All touches from his appearences today via our very own @ShaftBrewer 1084121470199042048 is not a valid tweet id
He looked a little nervy here and there defensively. You could tell he was timid about pressing sometimes. But that's just nerves and nitpicking.. he looked silky smooth out there on the ball and I'm looking forward to these next few months. He was one of the first 2 players off of the bench for them today, so maybe that's a good sign of where he ranks on the depth chart currently.
Being a HUGE RBNY supporter, seeing Tyler in the familiar kit makes me nostalgic already. He looked, well, like Tyler. Smooth. Calm. Always looking forward. Using his speed on defense when needed. I think he will provide something positive for RBL right off the bat. Good luck brotha.
Not having seen the game and just looking at the all-touches video, it's hard not to have a very positive impression. It seemed like he was pretty involved in the game, and his teammates weren't hesitant to give him the ball even when he'd be under some pressure after receiving it. He was pretty clean in all of his passing too. Pretty good for a teenager who has only been training with them for a little over a week.
I really like how he anticipates defensively. His mind is operating more quickly than the other’s on the field. With his athleticism, it lets him popin to win many balls against the slower reacting competition.
I didn't get to see the game but saw his touches video: His stats.. Forward passing: 1 long 7 short Lateral passing: 5 back passing: 8 take away: 1 Intercept: 2 Header:2 Looks like he was very much involved in the game. I wouldn't say he was stellar. He just fit-in and wasn't overmatched.
Just that he was thrown in for quality minutes with the first team and looked the part is a great sign. He's still a 19yo kid and making a big jump in competition. Let's hope it continues.
i agree but i'm not surprised - he's already shown decently against the like of Brazil - not doubtful at all about him transitioning to the bundesliga.
I'm not surprised either, but he has to prove it to the manager on a club that's already having a good season. We know he can do it, but our opinion doesn't matter!
His 45 minutes today in friendly.. kudos Shaft for the link. And I agree, he wasn’t good in this, no hiding that fact. Played on right side midfield and much more advanced than yesterday. Super sloppy with his thru balls, counted 4 of them on a break/transition that just didn’t come off. Few bad touches in the middle in addition. Looked better towards end of the first half, a nice square ball at top of box for a teammate to rip a shot, took the ball down nicely prior to that. Then another nice square ball to the forward at top of box. 1084450985672695808 is not a valid tweet id
