Anyone know how does the Brazillian League compare with the European leagues? The bremen move would be better for him imo. He is not even getting much playtime with Kobe.
I have to disagree. He played little in Kobe but that's because he is a 99 anyway, let's see how much he plays here. Hope i'm wrong but i'm afraid it might be less. Plus, Werder looked genuinely interested and he would have had another japanese there to help settling, plus they are more used to japanese players. And last they even own 30% now so they will always have a say... hmmm... seems more the work of an agent interested in money and not much in the player, but hope i'm wrong and Palmeiras values him !
Again, he has nothing to lose. If he has anything to lose that I am unaware of, please tell me. He is still 19, not a starter at Vissel Kobe, he even does not make it to the bench so often. That said, even if he is given at Palmeiras the same amount of time he was given at Kobe, it will be great, considering his age. He will benefit from playing in one of Brazil's top clubs, get used to and learn from his experience in Brazil (hopefully add a Brazilian touch to his skill-set). Even if he does not play at all in Brazil and just train with the senior team, and get a valuable experience living abroad by his own at this young age, it will make him a stronger as a player and a person. In the case he came back to Japan next year with zero minutes played in Brazil (the worst case scenario), he will be still 20 and the future ahead of him, he could rejoin Vissel Kobe or join a European team (let it be Werder Bremen or any other club). A boy in his age might not opt for professional football to begin with, and might opt to join University instead, and many Japanese players did so and did not turn proffesional until they finish their University study (aging from 21-23). Consider him one of those players who spends at least 3 years in University before turning pro, he can go to Brazil for a year as it is University just to learn, and his real professional career will start after his Brazilian adventure. It's not like he is 21 or more, with either a starting spot at his club team, or at least he is making the bench every week and getting some valuable playing minutes. That's the point, he has nothing to lost not at all.
I just don't see Palmeiras as a club where he would benefit that much even not playing at all instead of not playing much in Kobe (where he has Podolski and Iniesta to train with too). But maybe @GunnerTNB can give his opinion
if I remember correctly hiroki saki went some time at a much lesser brazilian club when he was nineteen as well. imho it’s better to spend time outside his comfort zone at a top brazilian club. you can only learn so much sitting on the bench without playing with iniesta.
Palmeiras is the biggest spending club in Brazil right now. They have a huge roster and an enormous pressure to win titles, so Sasaki is not likely to get playing time this season. The report from his signing says he is coming to the U-20 team. His best shot of first-team football is the Paulista Championship that starts in January.
