Hopefully it’s temporary and another loan is being ironed out. I can’t see him playing nor does he have anything to gain playing in the Segunda Division B (3rd División). Shaq needs minutes and needs them in a higher division.

Hopefully he gets a transfer somewhere. This whole Levante situation is a mess. I'm not sure who would want him, but I'd rather him play almost anywhere else. I don't know if he's an MLS-caliber defender (I just haven't seen him play enough), but the sort of stability that a US return would provide would probably be a huge benefit for his career.

How is this a mess? Shaq if a 22 year old owned by a mid-table team in a top 3 league...he's played for them but isn't first choice so was sent on a half-season loan to a 2nd division club where he got a decent amount of playing time.

Is it the pay thing? For all we know Levante has been paying his wages...

He's the only Yank to get minutes in the best league in the planet in recent memory.

Although with the NT he's looked meh, to be honest. He looked fine against France and Mexico, poor against England and Italy. Perhaps his time with Reus (a club that is indeed a mess) affected his play negatively.

Yedlin already plays in the Premier League :p

I am curious as to how exactly he got a move to Spain to begin with. No MLS or German or English club scouts were following him?

Moore is the rare case of the "pure effort" guy. He has no connection to Spain: no ancestors there, no family living there, only the desire to play there since he was young.

He's been there since he turned 18 and found a niche in the city of Valencia, but after that, it's been a hard climb. Admirable kid, actually.

I mean, if you think the development track he has been on is solid and well-structured, that's fine.

I see a guy who has gotten desperation minutes with Levante, useless minutes with their reserves, and a loan to a borderline insolvent team. That's not conducive to continued, positive development.

Oh it most definitely it's going to end in heartbreak. It's Spain, a place that has never been good for Yanks. Shaq's quest is hugely romantic, the young hero who goes to tame the monster even though he (and everybody else, come on) knows he will die in the attempt.

At least he'd have given it a solid shot. Truth is, when he played for Levante back when the starters were injured/out of form, he didn't look out of place. He looked a lot better than Gooch did with Malaga, or Jozy with Villarreal. The fans wanted to keep him around, even if only as a bench option.

He'll eventually return to MLS and, since he was not in mama England, he'll get something ridiculously low, like 300K or so. But this is the old-fashioned story of a hero, and back in the day, in the end, the hero always lost. There's nothing heroic about facing challenges you can beat.

Can we just try to avoid obvious baiting statements like this one?

They consider all the teams from those leagues playing in the continental competitions. French clubs, beyond PSG, have done worse in Europe than the top 3 Russian ones.

Basically take PSG out and the over 7 points difference between Ligue 1 and the Russian Premier disappears.

But couldn't the same be said for the Russian league minus the top 1 or 2 clubs? The Russian and Ukrainian league have to be more top heavy than even the French league or Portuguese league.

Not even making the squad in the third division any more. Wonder what's going on.

Two draws is better than the two losses they had when he wasn't making the 18 (injured?). So not all is lost.
