bento needed to select high motor accessory players to compensate for his slow central core (ki sungyong, jung wooyoung, hwang inbeom, ku jachul etc) but he opted for lee chungyong and ji dongwon instead

ji dongwon in particular is a dreadful selection because it prevents the team from having an option to perform one thing in football that koreans are world class at which is long balls into the box. to this day ive never seen korean forwards look as threatening as they did when they were bombing random long balls forward against algeria in 2014. korean players have been doing this long ball thing as soon as they could kick the ball up in the air. korea probably the only country that teaches its youth players how to both bomb long balls and how to head them. its one among their few common skill set. bento should learn to embrace it

Agreed. K-League is infamous for this. Long balls, counters, just direct football. This style of football has long been in our football DNA.

Stielike got us to the finals I doubt Bento seki will even get that far with his terrible call ups. Even STY knew not to call up LCY and JDW.

what the hell was that match? man we suck serious ass. this looked nothing like our side against chile, uruguay and paraguay. neither side had anything worth mentioning. it looked like a midtable kleague match. we had a few flashes of good passing but that was about it. all our long balls are not accurate enough and we have no quality up top. the talent in the KNT is midfield heavy son, ki, lcy and we'll probably relying more on son to score than any of our 'strikers.'

i'm not looking forward to our results at the asian cup.

It's mainly 1 or 2 users who are being fickle, I think nobody else cares that much because of today's result.

Apparently, the team arrived at the venue right before the kick off because the bus driver "didn't know" where the stadium is.

Yeah well, Shin Tae-yong set us a new low with 0 goals and 0 shots on target at the WC last year, and to make matters worse, we still lost to Sweden. This was a friendly so, as sad as it may be, it's not a big issue, but at major tournaments like the WC? then that's a huge problem.

Take a chill pill or two and relax. I'm not gonna lie, this match was putting me to sleep, but we must take into consideration that 1. It was just a friendly, and 2. There were factors to take into consideration for the poor performance.

First off, the players weren't in 100% condition, the crazy scheduling done by the AFC that interrupts the schedules of our KPAs and domestic players, almost everyone was coming off with little to no rest at all, all fatigued and jet lagged that the heavy foots were clearly visible on the pitch, and let's not forget about the bus driver who somehow lost the route to the stadium. Secondly, the pitch conditions were crap, then again pitch conditions are always crap in the ME, but still it affects the gameplay for the players. Lastly, the Saudis were just as bad as we were, and coming off a 0-0 draw is justifiable, I would've been more pissed if we ended up losing, but the Saudis couldn't shoot for shit either, not to mention they had no firepower at the front during their offense.

Also, our performances during the previous 6 games were good and very refreshing to see, although we cannot always be expecting good performances, you're gonna get some rusty/lackluster performances here and there, however given the fact that we're seeing more problems now, it will be beneficial for Bento and his staff considering they can gather all of the necessary data towards fixing the issues in those specific areas.

Lastly, it's better to be playing poorly now whilst spotting more issues in order to fix them next, than to notice no issues at all and paying the price later, like the consistent shit performances we've had during the Choi Kang-hee, Hong Myung-bo, Stielike, Shin Tae-yong era, more so Stielike in particular not only wasting three years, but also setting us back with no significant/visible progress, so it's clearly visible that Bento is handling things a lot better than what we've seen from the former. We have three more years ahead of us, it's a long term project, let's be a bit more patient.

please, bruh. let's not make blame the grass or the bus driver for NOT getting one shot on target. that's hogwash. yeah those setbacks suck and yea we were experimenting with a different formation, but truth is we got outshot, couldn't get a shot on target, got caught on counters, all against a mediocre saudi side.
