    understood.

…yet i’m thinking that all of those sackings were because of poor performances against lesser teams.

bini lost to denmark, a competetive but weaker team, in the 2013 euros. most think he was rightfully sacked.

bergeroo’s loss to canada in the olympics was awful. they were way better than canada, and high above them in fifa rankings. firing deserved.

echouafni lost against an england team that they were better than both by the eye test and by the fifa grading. firing deserved.

    whereas,

they played a good game for a draw against the u.s. last time. If they stink up the field in the wc, yes. but if both teams keep improving until the wwc, and france lose a well played game against the u.s., it would seem like overreacting to fire a good coach.

absolutely the GER/USA was the better match up & should of been the final instead of what;s been commonly referred as the Return of Godzilla(starring Carli Lloyd) lol
here are the FIFA highlights of the match. Guess the main debating points are
    1) should of Ertz been given the red card after fouling Popp in the penalty?
    2) should of Morgan been given the PK when it seemed like she was initially outside the penalty box?
well with the Morgan foul, the ref might of let the play continue until she felt Morgan was still being fouled after she got into the penalty box?(just sayin,, but very strong talkin points on both sides of the argument)
the Ertz not getting a red card can be offset that like wise that nobody got red on the Morgan foul & remember too, Popp had a size able rep of being a 'diver'

otherwise, as the high lights suggest, the US had two close chances. Then the easy goal on the end & this is the problem on our side of the Atlantic, most Euro's insistence of zone defending instead of marking(& you saw that could easily be changed as we saw Potsdam use 1v1 marking to get their draw vs the super stacked Wolfsburg a few weeks back)

in hindsight, the what looked like a tired Germany could of used an easier opponent in the semis after their dramatic PK win over #3 France. If only FIFA would of done the draw correctly, then their opponent could of been instead either the own goal specialists, England, or Japan, which last time they met, they dispatch quite handily, 3-0, at the 2014 Algarve Cup

    1) it is a clear red card lol - unbelievable how Johnston/Ertz wasn’t sent out - a player who genuinely impressed me that WC and was US best player imo and is today one of the best DMs in the world
    2) It’s no f-ing penalty as it clearly happened outside the box - and what was poor Krahn supposed to do...? Run away from Morgan to give her a free line 1v1 against Angerer? Morgan basically ran into her lol

It was the best game in the WC though imo - I’m just wondering if the German Men lost to the US in this way because of the referee being in the center of it all, how the reactions would’ve been lol :whistling:

You mean like the way USA lost to Germany in the 2002 Men's World Cup, in which USA outplayed Germany in the statistical categories, and the refs screwed over USA (on a clear handball to prevent a goal).

By the way, the USA women in 2015 also outplayed Germany in the statistical categories as well.

(USA 58% possession over Germany, 6 shots on goal to Germany's 2 shots on goal):

Not only a handball but the ball may have been over the line. Lousy referee screwed us.

I was just talking about how German media would react if their men went out the same way the women did in 2015 as men's football is way more popular in Germany

Yes, it's a shit way to go out though when the referees are quite underwhelming!

Yes I never said that it was undeserved that US got through, but I'm not a fan of when games are decided of fatal blunders by the referee - However I mean the reason why I don't care much about statistics is that how many times haven't we seen that the team dominating the statistics lost at the end? :whistling: Like it happens every year, every week in international elite football as bloody "unfair" as it is

UEFA(who supposedly runs the Euros) had England ranked #1 before & even after the Dutch beat them in the semis. But Echouafni had a bad tourney overall, coming in 2nd in group play(bad luck to cause he had to play ENG without Renard & Majri). Due to the possible 6 games, got the feeling he tried a more conservative approach from his successful, attacking style that got him not only the SBC crown but some solid friendly wins like against the Dutch a few months prior to Euro

I think the French should of given him one more try as the new coach(the Deacon) has been a mixed bag. She needs to make up for so many of the Golden Generation retiring. So at first, she tried using the stars of the lower, amateur clubs. But pro scouts would of figured that out by now that they weren't that good, So France got blown out subsequently in some of Deacon's early friendlies

Now the big gamble is to try & turn a group of promising youth players into strong senior squad members. The biggest name is central striker,

Katato, who is currently tied for goal scoring honors in the French League with the way more hyped Ada. But ironically, she is coached now by Echouafni & has yet to be able to find 'her touch' with other coaches as she was considered a flop at last year's u20 WC

The garbage football produced by France at the Euros combined with the press conference and mixed zone quotes from Echouafni during the tournament warranted a dismissal.

and yet France gave the 2015 WC coach another try even though he lost vs a way lower ranked team in group play as well as bowed out in the quarters even though he was well stacked with the so called Golden Generation. Looking back at the loss in the quarters vs an unstable Germany, my ref guide has the Deacon given equal coaching credits, yet it was terrible decision by them to pull out France's fastest attacking players in Le Sommer & Thomis
the breaks are part of the game & Germany was lucky to win it's quarters as France couldn't score from a couple of easy sitters. 2015 wasn't Neid's year; Kessler never coming back despite winning FIFA's 2014 poy award. Alushi 's pregnancy, Maro'a only 50% fit during the whole tournament.
Don't think Neid knew what she wanted in that tourney, she went through a rather weakish group, but then in the 3rd game vs Norway; dominated the 1st half, but than shockingly, decided to bunker(1st & only time I've ever seen Germany do that). Surprising poor performance by Kemme at LB(as she couldn't handle
either of the fast moving Thomis or O'Hara) & then Goessling as the lone AM? lol/

in comparison in 2016, playing strong competition in group play with the rough n tumble AUS &CAN, helped toughen em up to playoffs & eventual Gold, Though helped that Neid didn't have to play the US(who she never won against) as the over confident Ellis picked a squad that was half banged up to play in the Olympics, lol

I don't know the details from behind the scenes, but the sacking of Bruno Bini didn't do France good. The loss to Denmark in the Euro 2013 QF is the most one-sided match I've ever seen at that level. There wasn't much Bini could do from a coaching perspective from the bench. Sometimes the ball just won't go in. Getting sacked after a penalty shoot-out is harsh. I believe France would have had a winner's medal in a tournament - or at least a final - if Bini had stayed on.

A lot of Lyon players had grown tired of his unusual managing methods and were asking for more professionalism and methodology. Hence the appointment of ex pro Bergeroo.

He was heavily favoring the Juvisy players at the time like Thiney and Soubeyrand, plus the Henry incident that kept her out of the side for two seasons.

Just saying that if Kessler was fit she would've been a much better option than Leupolz in that midfield and Alushi would've played as a winger which means that Popp would've been dropped :whistling: And we all know how great Kessler and Alushi were for Germany, so it could've changed some things for the Germans

She had a private argument with a team-mate that kept her out of the team for two years.

I found extended highlights from the game! The referee... *sighs*
Nevertheless the best game from the last WC, I hope for more games like those in the upcoming WC

Germany had a strong team at the 2013 Algarve Cup(only Alushi was missing) but still got easily beat by the US/ here'were the lineups
WNT Takes 2013 Algarve Cup Title with 2-0 Win Against Germany - U.S. Soccer

yeah, I know, terrible back line, but it was the same old tactics used by the Neid/Jorgie cartel of play from the back & bring the ball straight up the center via short passes & as usual, the team got hopelessly pinned down in their own half by the high press/high back line. High lights below(warning; Alex Morgan goes hog wild!)

WNT vs. Germany: Highlights - March 13, 2013 - YouTube

the Germans would win the 2012 & 2014 AC, beat Japan 3 consecutive times, but didn't have to face the US when they won. Their 2014 AG was probably the strongest, slaughtered Japan in the 2nd half using the fab trio(Maro, Alushi & Kessler) this might of been Germany at it's very best, but it's still that short passing game that the US would know better to defend against
    Germany-Japan 3-0, Algarve Cup 2014 - YouTube

I agree, Morgan should of not gotten the PK call, but look at the 4 minute mark Popp makes a very dangerous foul on Rapinoe(tackles nothing but legs) & could of gotten a red card from it. Chelsea coach & BBC commentator. Emma Hayes, has often called Popp a"dirty player', I would agree on that play,

The final stats had Germany only making one shot on target for the whole game vs the US five

That was at the 46' mark, not the 4' mark.
    I miss Solo and Holiday.
Say what you will about Solo's personality off the pitch, on the pitch, I never worried about our back end.

Again, I’m not complaining about that US won but the refereeing was scandalous awful and basically decided the game - same happened in the other semi when England dived their way to a penalty and the referee bought it somehow lol

I mean, I’d say it’s brutal unfair that Sweden beat US in Rio as US was the better team and created clear chances from open play but it’s even more unfair when the referee is the one who decides the game lol

So I’m not against the fact that US won the game as they were the better team in the end, I’m just not a very big fan how they won the game

The referee shouldn’t ever be allowed to referee a big game as these girls deserve better the few times they’re able to play before thousands
