    I actually liked this video.

Do I think it comforts me when it comes to thinking about World Cups ? Nope.
But it makes me feel a lot better heading into the Gold Cup prep.

I like 4-4-2's Or as he said something that will look more like a 4-2-2-2.

So Roldan and Agudelo have re-upped with MLS since 3G took office.

assuming zimmerman, acosta, cannon, lima, etc being in camp cupcake means none of them are going abroad, either.

Is 3G going to be pushing USMNTers to stay in MLS? If so, is that not a horrible thing?

It's not really the role of the USMNT manager to tell players where to pursue their professional careers.

Yet Arena, Bradley, and Klinsmann all encouraged their players to go to Europe if they wanted to get better.

No wonder we didn't even qualify for the World Cup, our coaches believed themselves to be career advisors instead of tacticians.

    I mean there are levels.

Encouraging a player already considering Europe to test himself at the highest level of competition possible is at one end of the scale, brokering a transfer to, or arranging a trial in, Europe for someone already committed to an American club is at the other.

Not to mention... a couple of MLS players deciding not to leave MLS is hardly proof of anything.

It will look 4222 in defense. Crew was 4231 in atrack. And that 4222 was more the shape when the other team had possession in their own third/half.

Once they possessed deep in the Crew half, one of Zardes or Higuain would track back into the spot an AM would occupy and leave the other up top to serve as the lone/nominal F. Zardes ran more, Pipa less. Which was almost assuredly the point.

I don't expect anything from Berhalter, tbh. If anything, I half-expect him to fail given everything else that's wrong with USSF.

This program is an unmitigated disaster in every aspect. Comcast or Electronic Arts are run better than this.

Many 4-4-2's end up that way with one of the strikers being more of a supporting striker and the other a holding striker. Especially in the modern game.

With younger players at his disposal we will see how the system develops for National team.

He'll probably fail just like our previous coaches. This is USSF we're talking about.

I am keeping an open mind.

I at least want to see how he manages the Gold Cup before I bury his chances.

They both are irrelevant (thank God) in our player pool. Our best players will continue to play in Europe, and there is nothing wrong with that

Roldan is 23 and is receiving a 4 fold increase in salary. He's not an 18 year-old who can afford to spend a few years knocking around in the lesser European in the hope that a big team will come knocking for him.

In the absence of any notable bids from overseas teams, it's not surprising that this son of central American war refugees chose to stay in beautiful Washington State.

I’m glad he got his money from Seattle. He still isn’t that good of a player, I guess there is a reason no big teams called?

"Continue to play" is sort of a stretch for many of them.

That reason no teams called to beat an 800k per year offer and produce a transfer fee of a few million to extract him from Seattle where he's highly valued is likely his unjust lack of integration with the national team. Then he would have been relevant and playing in Europe. He certainly could have played in a respectable European league if he was an FA meaning he was a European player and then maybe suddenly validated in your eyes.

He has been that good of a player. Couldn't have been that much better than he has since he was integrated to Seattle. Arguably their best player the last few years on a team who has arguably been the best on the league. But you'd have respect for him if he was a random starter in the lowlands or Championship? Foolish to paint with a broad brush because players start out domestically.

Did u literally say that he may be the best player on the best team the last few years?

I normally make fun of these over the top opinions about players but this isnt even funny it's so wrong.

When I evaluate a player, I try not to be too caught up where he plays. To me, Roldan's game doesn't jump at me like a Dest or even Servania. In my opinion, he is at the same level as Trapp. A good MLS player nothing more.

At least Trapp is different. Roldan is much the same as many other CMs. I suppose the argument could be made that he is better than Acosta or Delgado.

when I watch Roldan in MLS - he stands out in a good way. But when he has played for USMNT he has been anonymous - hopefully under a new regime - there will be players who look better for the USMNT.

My feeling is that the reason almost all of the last 5-10 years of MLS players looking pedestrian on the USMNT has a lot to do with JK, BA, and DS having schemes that don't put those players in position to look/play great.

GGG has put players like Zardes, Finley, Trapp, Meram etc in a postion to look good (maybe better than they otherwise would) in MLS - hopefully he can have some similar stories with the USMNT as well.

That is why I'm only interested in GBs game plan for these friendlies.
