You all have to keep in mind that Marco Reus in his young days was also considered a counter attacking player only but over the years he evolved his game and today he is an exceptional footballer... Werner has improved his game in tight spaces and if he was bit lucky he would have had couple of additional goals in his name this season which he created himself in tight space...one of them was against Schalke where his brilliant shot kissed the top of the bar and went over...he is improving and I clearly see him evolving his game in coming years...what I need from him is to be more prolific and score on a regular basis like score in 4 matches out of 6 matches
I would still keep Werner in the squad, but he is used against certain opponents ...or when we are leading then we sub him in for counters when opponents are forced to attack because they are trailing Werner as SS or LW, he is developing exactly like Reus nowadays... without the technique
If we aren’t producing top physical strikers , not many countries produce it anyway... I would love to have a striker like Firmino does for Liverpool Can link up, can press, can create... he won 4 aerial duels against Man Utd big CBs n DMs ... he can do so much even he isn’t scoring Young strikers worldwide, from the pro performances, I only think Kane and Maxi Gomez from Celta can develop into the type of strikers I like While Firmino isn’t the exactly type as Kane n Maxigol... he is a contributor up top. Intelligent, technical n hard-working For older strikers, Cavani n Manduzkic are the. strikers I love. Germany should look at these strikers and use them as benchmark
from that top 5, interesting to note that. -Reus, has 2 goals out of 10 that are PKs. -Lewa has 2 goals out 10 that are PKs -Jovic, his numbers are inflated given that he scored 5 goals in the same game vs FD who's struggled all season, that's half his goals in 1BL this season. He's still a good player but otherwise would never be as high as he currently is. Werner has 0 PKs this season. Heck even Paco has a direct FK goal and another that was deflected in but counts as his goal. Haller who's #6 at 9 also has 2 PKs this season.
Who are all the 5 opponents Werner has scored so far this season? Last season he had a great match against Bayern
Hertha, H96, FCN, Gladbach and Mainz. Mainz defense are no slouches, before today's 4-1 win, Mainz had one of the best defenses in 1BL. also scored a double in German Cup vs Hoff off the bench in a 2-0 win that eliminated them.

Timo Werner is ready to take the next step at Bayern. However, the topic of a move has never been concrete so far. Last summer, the Bayern bosses did not rate Werner as Bayern material yet. Leipzig want to extend Werner's contract beyond 2020 but he's still hesitating [Bild] pic.twitter.com/GG3kV4Nda3— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) December 19, 2018
Erner pretty much says it all here: Timo Werner drops huge Bayern Munich hint to Sky Germany: "I’ve had a nice 2.5 years at Leipzig, so they are in the picture [for next season]. There are other clubs in the picture. If you play in Germany and want to stay in Germany, there is only one club in question.” #FCBayern— Ronan Murphy (@swearimnotpaul) December 19, 2018
had a pretty decent game vs Bayern today. Was overall more of an attempt assister over scoring himself. Good amount of chances for RB were ones that Werner was the trying to set up others.
He was good today. I also liked all the smiles and banter with our players. Hopefully he is headed our way next summer.
commentator today "Werner fastest player in 1BL facing Sule the fastest defender in 1BL." his smiles/banter were mostly with Sule as they faced each other. Felt like Werner was very close to handshake Sule's hand lol.
Rummenigge responds to the Werner statement grinning: "I can not deny that he's probably right." [Bild] https://t.co/ifkJCmJEWR— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) December 20, 2018 I do wonder what RB Leipzig would look like without Werner. Has been influential since day 1.
Rangnick seems confident Werner will stay. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-Werner-stay-RB-Leipzig-amid-Bayern-talk.html
According to AZ, Bayern and Liverpool are interested in Timo Werner. Scouts from Liverpool watched Werner several times this season. Bild adds Atlético Madrid as another team interested in Werner. pic.twitter.com/e6W4l6WvGI— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) December 20, 2018
Werner should stay in Leipzig for one more year at least....he will benefit from Nagelsman and also Lewandowski will be starter at Bayern next season too...Werner needs to start every match and not be a sub of Lewandowski
well Werner in the past did say he wanted at least 1 season with Nagelsmann. Whether that's still the case who knows.
Werner will probably start on the wing with Lewandowski if he comes. Eventually he would replace him as CF.

11 - Timo #Werner (@RBLeipzig_EN) has scored 11 goals in the first half of this Bundesliga season, breaking his record for the first 17 matchdays from 2016-17 (10). Goalgetter. #RBLSVW— OptaFranz (@OptaFranz) December 22, 2018 this is also Werner's 100th goal/assist in 200 games as a pro footballer.
