Wright and McKennie apparently ruining Schalke's defense. Fahrmann blows a makeable save off a nice turn and shot by Alario - more concerned about appealing for a handball than saving the shot. 2-0.

Trivia answer: Eddie Johnson and Brian McBride started for Fulham 3/16/08. Keller started in goal, and Bocanegra came off of the bench.

Clint Dempsey also came off of the bench.

I guess he meant to do that?!?! He's off the schneid. I was just about to bash him for his performance. He had sucked, showing a real lack of anticipation, touch, and quickness. This probably keeps him in the game, otherwise he'd have been subbed at half. He's got a 4-leaf clover up his arse right now.

Good performance from McKennie independent from that. Pressuring the defense, showing well to the football, smooth turns, quick passing, nice runs, desire to get on the end of balls around the box, just a 1/4 step away previously, etc. Probably deserved to be part of a goal contribution even though that was a smash and grab.

Add just like that Hadji scores his first!!!!!

Weston heads it down or misheads it whatever way you wanna slice it and it falls to Hadji who finishes. Right in the strike of halftime!

Nice reaction play, and positioned well inside his man. Somewhat lucky, but not an accident. Totally changes the second half...

And they won on a 1-0 McBride header (against Everton). The trick to success is to use 5 Nats in every game, then you'll be unbeatable.

I mean, it wasn't an amazing bit of skill, but it was a well taken goal.

    Happy for him.

Got a stream of the game, was about to start drinking out of disappointment now I may start out of celebration. Both Haji and McKennie have been disappointing but that goal and getting these reps in hard times could be huge for both.

That’s what they call striker’s instinct or at least that’s what a striker should claim! ;)

nice to see weston’s much maligned head garners an assist. haji is a pure striker in that it’s okay if he doesn’t seem to do much of anything as long as he scores

They sort-of played 6 Americans - Brede Hangeland was born in Houston but played for Norway.

And Everton's goalie, unsurprisingly, was Tim Howard.

Watching replays of the goal at the end of the half reminds me of one thing:

McKennie is a beast in the air. Reminds me of EJ in his technique and dominance, a really under-appreciated and unexpected part of his game. Had a solid shot on goal off a head and posterized his defender to assist the goal, which Wright knew little about tbh.

Wright was decent, had a few good moments, but didn't touch the ball till the 24th minute for anyone who's counting...
