Waldschmidt is looking more and more like one of the top breakthrough players in the BL this season. If he continues to get better, he may become a consideration next season for Euro qualifiers

I will never understand the mentality of coaches that do not practice penalties. Sure your game plan does not need to be "play for penalties". However, it's always best to be prepared for any eventuality in a tournament.

Like what I've seen in Krüger and Serra lately. These youngsters have what it takes to go far, hope they keep it up. Disappointed in the lack of chances given to Arp though at HSV. And this is with Lasogga out injured too.

In much less relevant news, Lennart Thy has finally scored his first goal for his Turkish club. Last minute stoppage time to finish at a draw vs Fenerbahce lol

While Ducksch is now unused for a 5th match in a row. Between injuries to begin the season, and not actively in the rotation it also hasn't been a very productive season for Kleindienst either.

if Serra keeps it up post Winter break would be hard not to have 1BL clubs go after him.

While Kruger some think Schalke's buyback could be for Summer 2019. If they do activate it, maybe they'll loan him back to Aue for another season or maybe not...

as for Ducksch at this rate, guy needs to impress in Winter camp, seems too late for the next 2 games.

Kleindienst has an expired 2019 contract, makes me wonder if Freiburg doesn't renew it and just promote Daferner instead?

while Gomez is just outside of the top 10 all time scorers in 1BL. Simon Terodde is very close to becoming 2BL all time top scorer.

Marvin Pourie looks to have found his level in 3rd Liga. His only club success came from the Danish Superliga where he's still in top 30 all time scorers in that league, used to be higher on the list but was recently surpassed by other players. But never seem to have found success in Germany.

well at least he gets the honor of being the top scoring German in Denmark.:D

Pourie is 3BL level although Karlsruher are contenders to promote so he may end up in 2BL next season. Thy also belongs in 2BL or lower table Eredvisie just like Mlapa. Ducksch hasnt shown that he's competitive enough for the first division yet.

If Kleindienst doesn't extend with Freiburg I'm not sure if there's necessarily enough interest from other clubs in 1BL. Especially considering how little he's going to end up playing this season. So he honestly might end up being back in 2BL. Injury wise he's reminding me of Platte who unless he remains healthy for a whole majority span of a season and performing on a high level, he'll be stuck in 2BL.

I think only bottom of 1BL, teams that barely survive or maybe a club like Hamburg would go for Klendienst. Although Hamburg have yet to show themselves a good club for dev. But yeah he does seem headed for 2BL and if he does hopefully he doesn't stay there too long.

A couple more for the FWIW category:

Pascal Testroet (at age 28) is on pace and actually already exceeded having his most productive season ever in 2BL. Bagged a brace today so far which takes him to 10 goals on the season at Erzgebirge Aue.

Denis Thomalla scored his 5th of the season yesterday for Heidenheim, which is also his new career high for 2BL. He once had 10 goals in the Austrian league back in 2014/15 but never progressed since then.

Testroet with a hat trick, dude is taking serious advantage of lyoha and Kruger.;)

but jokes asides what's the likelihood some 1BL club will go after Testroet?

Realistically not that high. Unless he gets signed on as a depth option. Mainly because of his age, being 28 already doesn't help. Recent transitions from 2BL to 1BL of players who are even younger than Testroet but aren't working out too well, likely send warning signs to clubs.

still Serra and Kone (Senegal) are the only youngsters that are doing well for strikers. Everyone else is pretty much 26+ but most of them are late 20s-early 30s. So if you want strikers from 2BL that's pretty what you'll get older players. And Testroet is in 3rd place on the table.

Serra is the first U21 eligible youngster in a while to fully excel on the 2BL level. Krüger and Iyoha have also shown promising displays. Hope Arp, Kaya and Mörschel get better chances in the second half.

add Awuku, Wintzheimer, Platte (hopefully he can start playing full matches), Duker, Owusu.

Kaya is such a waste from all of them, given chance he's done well then ignored.

not going to add current U19/II players who still aren't part of 1st teams although that could change with Winter camps.

Testroet was very highly rated in his early days, when he was a youth player for Werder Bremen

For many reasons he just breakout this season...

Strikers usually have a late breakout nowadays, don’t be surprised if most of our centre forwards (targetman , not versatile forwards) have their best season at 26 onwards...

Physically they need further development as well

I think Seydel, Daferner, Nieland, Herrmann, Hottmann And Lenn Jastremski, their breakout will eventually come

But maybe late bloomers at 26/27

there is a reason for that though he went the long route to go up.

dude is nuts, spent 8 seasons in 3rd Liga, not a few.....8.
and it's only been the last 3 seasons that he's been in 2BL.

I mean most players don't spend almost a decade in 3rd Liga. It does feel like now is his best chance to try and climb again.

they could have a breakthrough earlier if they join Kiel though. How long will Serra with his form stay? On top of Kiel's looking for German players in RL and in other clubs. And we know how Walter likes young players since this season is his 1st pro gig.
