At the very least he needs to continue his great European performances (get round of 16) if it's possible. As well as help the team climb back to no.1 in the league. With that, he could be gone. Honestly if I were him, if stay if the team won the league and was guaranteed CL in the Fall. i think he should commit to summer 2020. By then he should be ready for a top 4 league.
Do you remember when Ethan Horvath was on the bench at Club Brugge? Well, now it can not be ignored anymore. With three clean sheets in a row against Monaco, Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, he is one of the craftsmen of this beautiful Bruges campaign in the Champions League. "Three clean sheets, it's very special, it was not an objective at the base because it was not realistic, it even seemed impossible, even if I secretly hoped for it," explains Horvath with a smile. "It's certainly a big achievement for me, but also for the whole team." GRIEZMANN However, Griezmann nearly ended that. In the first half, the world champion shot a great shot but the goalkeeper was on parade to repel. "There were a lot of people hiding my view, so I did not even see the ball coming in. I just took a few steps to be able to hit the leather for a corner." The goalkeeper from Bruges gave his opinion on the star of Atlético. "The most dangerous, without a doubt, is Griezmann, he is everywhere on the pitch and plays a free role, and the defenders and midfielders must constantly be on the lookout and know where he is." said Ethan Horvath. btw, Bruges (Brugge) General. Bruges has many nicknames such as "The Venice of the North" or "Die Scone" (the beautiful one) because of it's historic center that is traversed by various canals. It became a very wealthy town in the Middle Ages due to international trade, attracting people from all over Europe. Now it's attracting many other visitors: tourists from all over the world. Bruges was cultural capital of Europe in 2002 and has several inscriptions on the Unesco heritage list (the belfry, the beguinage and the town center). If you are a history lover, it will be difficult not to be charmed by Bruges' architectural heritage but besides that, it is a nice and safe place for shopping, dining or just having a good Belgian beer on one of the many terraces. Diverse activities are organized throughout the year ranging from a big Christmas market, fairs and processions to outdoor concerts. someone good with puns can add something worthy for the thread title.
OK, here's another try: Black and Blue All Over - Horvath Stops Shots in Bruges (Since the team colors are black and blue) or Brugge'd, Black and Blue - Horvath Fights Off Shots in Belgium and one I threw out a week or so ago: Brugge'd But Not Broken, Horvath in Belgium And yes, I know Brugge is pronounced differently than Bruges, but hey a little artistic license, ya know? Anyway that's all I got, FWIW.
Not a ton of new info: http://redseto.website/2018/12/13/u...rgence-plot-twist-to-american-depth-fansided/ Ethan Horvath has seen a resurgent begin to the 2018-19 European season with Membership Brugge in Belgium. The place does he stand within the USMNT pool?

I'm sorta watching while doing something else. I could never figure out where Carleton would fit in with a Euro team but Brugge looks like a fit. They need a little magic, a straw to stir the drink, as it were.
https://www.voetbalkrant.com/nl/nie...vergeten-naar-quasi-onmisbaar-bij-club-brugge Ethan Horvath has become a figurehead of how fast things can go in football. The American goalkeeper started the season as a double and is now strongholder at Club Brugge with three clean sheets in the Champions League. "It just was not my time." "In those many months that I was not allowed to play, I impressed myself that I am good enough, that I do have the qualities, that I did not have to go back to the United States to relaunch my career, as others did." , Ethan Horvath muses in Het Laatste Nieuws. "I wanted to stay in Europe, to make a career here, because I knew that what I was doing was right, I just had a period that everyone is going through, it was just not my time ." New start Yet there is no uncertain youngster, but a secure keeper between the posts. "The 'Italy game' was a new beginning, you do not plan such a thing - all those things - normally you only have to do about three." Horvath refers to the international match with the USA in the Genk Luminus Arena, in which he crowned Man of the Match in the eyes of the Belgian people despite a late 0-1. "The 'Italy game' gave me the feeling, like the 'Monaco game' - my first match in the Champions League - 'Here I am, here I am.' As if I had nothing to lose. "
A swipe at ZS? In those many months that I was not allowed to play, I impressed myself that I am good enough, that I do have the qualities, that I did not have to go back to the United States to relaunch my career, as others did." , Ethan Horvath muses in Het Laatste Nieuws.
Hamid and Steffen .....and both these guys because of playing in MLS and bias from US media get the assumption they should be USMNT #1 or #2 keepers. Also they make a few good athletic saves and everyone ignores their weaknesses which are many and the big one being mentally both have attitudes that they have arrived and should be given the starting roles. In the end this is what the competition will come down to as they all have overall strong technical keeper skills.
Hamid and Steffen are false equivalents. Hamid got some opportunities, but was rejected from Denmark in his mid to later 20's and struggled in limited opportunity with the national team. While Steffen got rejected from the Bundesliga barely into his 20's and has shined with his national team opportunities. To wit, Horvath and Steffen are false equivalents too. Steffen didn't let one go right through the wickets for the national team. He also wasn't playing in Norway and then Belgium. Now he's going back to Europe and to a higher level than Horvath currently plays. Friedel went to MLS from Europe in his mid 20's before returning. I would consider Friedel the best US keeper of all time on a per game basis. Players take different paths, and whether it's right or wrong is situational or result-oriented. It's a fluid situation, but right now Steffen is deserving to have an edge on Horvath. Neither you nor Horvath have a point here. You're projecting bias. Horvath is moving up the ranks accordingly.
It's been like a month and a half since Horvath actually started playing and has looked quite good. Pretty sure that has something to do with why he didn't get the attention that Steffen did the past year. I haven't noticed much Hamid hype other than people pointing out how he helped DC upon returning.
Steffen wasn’t rejected by Freiburg. He left because he was homesick. He now says that he is mentally/emotionally ready to go back to Europe. But otherwise, to add to what you said: It seems to me that returning to the US was the right choice for Steffen’s career. Gutting it out at Brugge is now looking like the right choice for Horvath’s career. After years of GK prospects not panning out, it’s good to see a few progress, even if ZS and EH both have a lot of work to do to iron out the kinks.
This is why "Ethan Horvath: Born again in the Dead City" or "Ethan Horvath: Born again in a Renaissance Town" is really the way to go here. (If I do say so myself - and I just did!)
I mean he was rejected in the sense that he didn't win the job. Agree that too many are obsessed with the uniform path. Both come with mixed results. And that regardless, it feels good to be set at keeper again.
