so pretty much becoming less and less relevant to the club since his injury. With an expired 2020 contract, only time before they move on from him.

I’ve always liked him a lot. I thought he was good in midfield, very good at full-back

no....gladbach just beat bayern 3:0...and after 7 matches, they are above Bayern in the table....so, FJ not featuring much lately could be as much of a reflection of the STRENGTH of his teammates as it is of his WEAKNESS.

that said, I fully expect he will play a key role for Gladbach in upcoming matches.....and the people who want to write him off are being melodramatic.

He looked good in the three games he started, even scored a goal, but in the third game he was gassed at the hour mark. Since then in each sub appearance he looked less and less fit. If I were the betting type, I'd bet he's having health issues.

Like Aronjo with his femoral muscle myalgia, the back pain Fabian has sounds like the sort of thing that sticks to you until you kick it, usually.

I think we need him back at left-back, after seeing Robinson last few friendlies.

Guy's in his last legs though, doubt he'd appreciate the call.

As predicted, he's not even a sub any more, just a bench player. He started the season well but by the time of the Frankfurt game it was clear his legs are gone.

where are you getting this from?

his legs arent gone. the team is just doing well and there are other players at his position(s) who are playing well....

his team is in 2nd in the Bundesliga, its not like poor players are keeping him off the field.

He had a very good start, he scored and assisted in his first two games this season and was ranked overall as one of the better players. He was not given fewer and fewer minutes due to lack of quality, but due to lack of stamina.

His last start was against Hertha and he had to leave at the start of the second half because he looked tired, and was too slow retreating. By then it was obvious to me something is wrong with him.

I suspect he's not 100% recovered from whatever was wrong with him last season. The "back issues," whatever that means. In short, I think it's time to stop penciling him in for future NT calls.

you could be right...but i think you are jumping to conclusions without definitive evidence. (though the recent cincinnati fc rumor might indeed be an indicator that he knows he's done, might as well cash in on MLS before everyone else knows)

he hasnt played lately - which is troubling - but he has played well as recently as this season - so the "he's done" narrative seems a bit overdramatic, to me.

FabJ got into the win vs Bremen today as a second half sub.

Looks like his comp at left mid is pretty strong - Plea had a hat-trick in the game.

Personally I think less playing time for him lately is about the strength of his squadmates than anything about him.

Plea is more a forward than a midfielder. Since Monchengladbach looks like a good team, capable of dominating a game, that means less playing time for Johnson for the sole reason that they won't be coming out in a more defensive setup. That frankly isn't a bad thing given his injury history. If his role this season is as a defensive replacement/rotational starter for a Champions League-caliber team, that's pretty solid.

Plea really was excellent today though.

i've seen fabj line up in that front left sided role that plea is in...but i agree with you about his role....he also can be slotted in deeper.

more responding to the assertion that fabj is "done" and thats why hes not playing...which has been made in this thread and strikes me as absurd.

At this point yes, but at the start of the season he was doing great and all of a sudden got benched. That to me indicates physical issues.

Of course after several games riding pine, by now his form is below that of the regulars.

tbh, Johnson wasn't that great in the 20 minutes he did play.

Unless he signs below the DP threshold, Toronto would have to dump one of Bradley, Altidore, or Giovinco.

How much money is he making now?

There's a non-zero chance Altidore will move, making this more possible.
