BTW, sounds like a good tie v. Everton today. 59' - Great ball from Fernández to pick out Yedlin on the right. His cutback finds Astu, who tests Jordan Pickford with a powerful shot. 1-1. #NUFC— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) December 5, 2018
I'm still a fan of the Toon. I just can't justify the time and money to watch them, while Ashley remains in charge of the club.
He is steady for NU. They get him to do what they require. I agree that it was the coaching on the USMNT. They didn't know what to do. with a RB/wingback. They want stay at home. and when he did make a run nobody covered for him. Thus looking like. he was lost. He is good, let's see if the new coach know what to do with him.
I disagree, quite a bit, Rafa and Big Sam have been so good for him by strengthening the weak parts of his game but DY would be better on a team that liked to bomb forward and use his speed to pressure. I think it’s a sign that this is a strength of his that Rafa gives him much more freedom to attack now than early last year. To me DY is about the best right-sided crosser we have had; he can deliver a flat and accurate ball.
I will take umbrage with this posts. Some points, in no order of importance: 1. Under Dave Sacked-and-ran, he was clearly not motivated. 2. I think yedlin feels as do I, that he should be captain ahead-of, I've-done-absolutely-nothing-but-be-white-and-play-like-the-hero-that-never-was-Michael-Bradley. 3. Under JK, Yedlin was a game changer. For better or worse, the most important attacker for USMNT at that time was the right back. Yedlin has something most US players don't: The courage to try and manufacture an important play. He didn't just run forward and attack, he ran forward and attacked when we needed it. To me that is a very important characteristic. 4. He is at that point in his career where maybe a tiny bit of 'ennui' has crept into his game. He's ball watching a bit. Not attacking the game the way he should. He needs something to get him motivated again.
Let me put it this way, then: Rafa deploys Yedlin in a way that highlights his recovery speed (as he is pushed up quite often, esp this season - and gets hung out now and again) and this makes him look like a more "exciting" player than how he tends to be used with the USMNT. It may also be a feature of who he has around him on NUFC but Yedlin, while he has his detractors for sure, is mentioned as a top NUFC player by fans a surprising amount, given the level of indifference he seems to get from USMNT fans. Part of that comes from expectations as well: When NUFC doesn't get hammered, it is seen as a success (see Everton tie) whereas the expectations for the USMNT are (were?) seemingly higher for a minute there. Yedlin is a decent crosser, but not great. His main skill is stretching the opposing D, esp when they try to play compact in the center, while still being able to disrupt a counter. That's his "sexy" move that gets him the most NUFC fan love, fwiw.
Agree with everything you said, but I'd like to add that his crosses seem to have improved a LOT this season. He is able to get the ball into the danger area and find teammates much better than i recall him doing int he past...
Yeah, to be fair, he's not a bad crosser, he's just not exceptional for the EPL, but his recovery speed is exceptional for anywhere. When most EPL/NUFC fans think Yedlin they think - "streaking back from the attacking 1/3 to slide to the endline and get a foot to a pass" first, and "overlapping to send in cross" next.
True, but for the USMNT he is far above average - not as good as Old Jesus (Donovan) and Baby Jesus (Pulisic) bit aside from the I don’t remember a much better crosser on the right side.
Frankie was a great crosser if you were a stadium seat that dreamed of finally getting into the game.
Can you write that in American please? (This post is a sure sing you have EOS - EPL Overwatch Syndrome. See your medical professional for help!)
Now you're watching too much VH1/Big Brother circa 2001! Where's Puck?! The first few websites I pulled up (fwiw) suggest a range of 1.3 to 1.5 mill Lbs annual, 20k to 30k Lbs weekly.
caveat emptor and all - I just pulled those off the most reliable looking websites that popped up first.

I'm not up on NUFC news. What is up with Shelvey? btw, Yedlin very lively going forward. A little miscommunication on the goal. But the unenviable task of bombing up and down all game.
DY has played for Big Sam and Rafa for what, 3 seasons now? Soccer hasn’t been fun in a long time for him. I’d love to see him on a team that plays more openly.
Red card for Yedlin: 57' - RED CARD - DeAndre Yedlin is dismissed for Newcastle after pulling back Wolves' Jota, who was bearing down on goal. The visitors now have a free kick on the edge of the area. 1-1. #NUFC— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) December 9, 2018
