I am no fan of Yedlin, but think that this thread deserves a bump since our man made a good run up field and contributed to a goal.

It was on a 30 minute delay. Everyone seems a bit off, but clearly leveled the playing field for Newcastle.

You and @freisland traded off plowing that lone furrow for a while. Respect.

And thanks for sparing my inner pogba. It under-performs when I need it most, but I still kinda like it.

As @Jazzy Altidore implied, Newcastle won 2-1. Fotmob had him rated at 6.9 at the end of the match. If that seems low to you, it is likely because he only completed 10 total passes (yikes). If that seems scary to you, it's likely because you didn't see the match and Yedlin was instructed to be a "decoy" down the right channel. It was some odd tactics by Rafa, but it caused some serious problems in the first half for Burnley. This lasted until the 85ish minute when Yeds was given instruction to stay home a bit more.

I thought it was one of his better crossing days - due to getting a number of chances perhaps. Not much came of them, but he put almost all of them well in the mix.

Ki gets a 10 on 1 but a 6 in 2 of those. Quite peculiar

    what a crazy day ....

Yedlin pretty much dead at fault for the Chicharito West Ham first goal. How can you not mark him DY?

Also bad - Pulisic has a calf injury again and is out ..

Flip side - Wright will start for Schalke ...

NUFC and probs Yedlin play today. I will do a pop if I can get my work done in time, but I'm not optimistic today.

Is DY the most underrated YA? Regular PL starter and his thread is just...crickets. No gameday thread and except for @freisland, his thread is strangely quiet. What gives?

    He's a good player but he's not a game-changer for the USMNT.

in 2015 he had 5 assists for the USMNT - in 2016, zero goals/assists, 2017 1 assist - since then zero goals assists - including reckless red card in copa america and recent falling asleep at back post in peru friendly.

I don't wanna sound like a hater - cuz I'm not - but he's not even a lock-down defender for USMNT, either. He doesnt offer much offensively (1 combined goal/assist in last 3 usmnt seasons) and isnt a shut down defender - sooo....he's good and plays in the EPL and everything but - there isn't really a lot there from a USMNT fan side to get super-excited about, imo.

to me the exciting thing about him was his speed and ability to threaten opponents - but it doesnt really matter if it isnt actually a threat - maybe berhalter can get it out of him.....seems like he would be great for his system cuz he doesnt keep his fullbakcs on a short leash like BA, DS etc

    1. He is a RB
    2. He isn’t particularly young

There’s your answer. Attacking players and young “hot new things” get the love.

Rafa's game plan plays to Yedlin's strengths.

As of late, the USMNT game plan has not. Will the Wiley Dutchman use him better? Dunno. But truth be told, at the risk of heresy, we got more interesting attack out of Fabio at RB than we tend to get out DY, for whatever reason. But for NUFC much of their game involves DY pushing up - and sprinting back!

Also adding to the quiet if McGirt and the other NUFC fans who used to come round back in Gooch days are not as active now. Only McGirt seems left and he seems to have lost his joie de Newcastle... (Seems Ashley has something to do with that...)
