The whole thing is going to be tainted regardless of what happens . Unless they wait at least a week possibly . But that doesn’t seem possible given the scheduling . My proposal would be play two weeks from now . Because Libertadores needs a champ . But send Palmeiras to the CWC :D

The club presidents will meet with CONMEBOL on Tuesday to discuss a future match date. Boca will request the win without play, although CONMEBOL is persistent on the match being played.

The problem is with the scheduling.. The international G-20 summit will take place in Buenos Aires this week, so it won't be played for at least a week. Saturday, December 8th is a tentative date (just days before the start of the CWC), but that's only based on logical predictions rather than concrete facts.

Another possibility is it being played on a neutral pitch without fans, although that would give Boca the benefit.

For now, we wait.. anything can happen and decisions will continue changing, as they have repeatedly since the match was originally suspended.

Away supporters have been banned for a number of years when Ajax and Feyenoord play. Things seem to have settled down and there was talk about changing the policy but I don't think it will happen.

Let's hope the match takes place this afternoon. I'm looking forward to watching.

EDIT: Oops, just saw that it is postponed.

One of the crazy ideas being brought up is playing it in Abu Dhabi so the winner stays and participates in CWC.

If that's the case I'm there!

But seriously, how are fans supposed to plan their travel? Even if the second leg had taken place as scheduled it would have been the last confederation decider, two weeks after Africa and Asia.

Shame, with Al Ahly and Persepolis losing their respective finals we are already looking at low attendance for UAE 2018. Oh well, I'll be there.

Exactly... And it seems like the most practical idea given the circumstances.

We missed the greatest final of all time. It won't be the same. I had my hopes after the extraordinary 1st match we had, I was looking forward to it and the fans simply ruined it. I don't think Boca deserves to win it on the table because it didn't happen in the stadium, it happened in the street. You cannot punish River for this. And regardless, the CONMEBOL knows that winning on the table will be the start of huge problems from fhe fans. They won't do it. I would cancel the ritle totally this year, it won't end up well no matter how you will look at it.

I would say the main reason that CONMEBOL is not giving Boca the title yet is because of money and they just don't want the final to be decided this way. In 2015, correct me if I am wrong Boca/River fans, it was 1 fan who screwed things up. Yes it was on the field as opposed to off the field, but I'd think they could easily punish River this time to at least try and set an example. If this was a R16, QF, or even SF, I think they would have an easier time making this decision.

In hindsight, they should have suspended Boca for at least a season or two (as long as they were eligible). Like they should have suspended Corinthians when that kid died in Bolivia. You'd hope that's one way some fans will think twice before doing something stupid.

But this is why the conmebol is so fuc*ed up: because they never acted like they should in the past, they clearly cannot do nothing now, and again, I disagree that they could easily punish River. If a River fan will throw a rock on Tevez in the street, will it be River's fault? Same thing here. It was the police's fault. And yes, I think they should act differently in the final and in a knockout stage.

Right outside the stadium before a game, yeah there should be punishment . It’s not about what’s fair for the team . It’s about trying to hit where it hurts the fans so there is a lesson learned .

The only thing police could have really done is try and block the whole road that leads to the stadium which is seldom done .

Again, disagree. The team is in charge INSIDE the stadium, not outside and it doesn't matter how much close it is to the stadium or when. This is why the policemen are being paid. And you forget that beside fans, you also have players here who worked extremely hard to get there. They clearly shouldn't been punished for something that happened in the street.

In Brazil one game Santos and São Paulo shared the bus to a game to promote peace because of some fan violence events. That’s something that would easily solve this problem here .

With all due respect, the hate between River and Boca fans is beyond that in my opinion. No one would take that chance because you would end up with dead fans or at least injured. I do like the idea though.

Re: the Boca incident I think they pinned it on one guy but he had to have had some help.

I like that. While we're also talking crazy ideas how about cancel the final and send a combined Boca and River squad to CWC. Imagine if they win it. Okay enough crazy talk. :p
