Wasteful. Hiroki scored but gave up a soft penalty at the end. Yoshida thought he won it but was offside. Japan should have taken their chances in the first half.

How was it? Yamanaka scored in his debut. Could he be a replacement for Nagatomo?

Kinda boring until the likes of Doan, Osako, Shibasaki, Nakajima, and Minamino came on in the 2nd half. Nakajima scored less than a minute after coming on.
Haraguchi's FK goal should have been saved easily. It was pathetic goalkeeping.

Yeh the new guys did OK but considering the level of the opponent, I expected more I guess.

Nice. I reckon a good strong squad. But some dissapointments as usual.

No Kamada. Sucks for him, but I think its also good because it means that he will be able to focus on STVV and improve his play.

Also, looks like Inui and Kagawa are done.

I guess Shoji is joining Toulouse for sure this winter. I get that he's going to need time to adjust, but I would feel much better with a Yoshida-Shoji partnership.

It is an ok squad but certainly not a great squad. And I doubt that this squad has the capabilities to win the Asian Cup

FW: Osako, Asano and Kitagawa lololololol!!!!!!!!

    Aoyama, Sasaki lololololol!!!

Jesus, don't get what's the thing with calling up shitty players from Hiroshima all the time. It was good for friendlies, but Asian Cup is a tournament and injuries happen. There could be a time when those will have to come on the pitch and weaken the team instead of making it stringer. Moriyasu is a typical Japanese old timer with this pseudo-nepotism.

Overall, I think that it is good as it is young. Generational change is needed the Japanese national team. I'm expecting that Japan win Asian Cup.

Sad that Shoji was left out just because of the transfer. Where the hell is Yamanaka?
I will defend Aoyama for life though. More worried about the likges of Miura, Muroya.. bleurgh.

Asano the immortal though. Six caps this season in Hannover. Good lobbing from JEB.

Pretty uninspired squad selection. Looks like Moriyasu steered clear of any players with significant injury risk, even at the expense of talent. Still, you would expect this team to be stout in the middle with plenty of firepower up front, so they have a decent chance to take home the title. It is what it is.

As I posted earlier. I would be a lot of dissapointments. And that was the case.
Is Kagawa and Inui left out because of their weak seasons? Or are they done? Hm. Still Asano is choosen, he has not done anythng positive either so. They Sanfreece conspiracy just grows stronger with him. No doubt.

I wanted to see Yamanaka also. But Nagatomo was selected , I thought he was not supposed to play in AC? Maybe I'm wrong. The FW selection is weak. And weird.

injuries to kashima’s suzuki and misao sucks.

happy for junya ito, kitagawa, morita.

the bias towards sanfrecce is disgusting. and even worse no one in the media has the balls to call moriyasu out on this. terrible.

only matter of time before matsumoto and naganuma receive call ups to the jnt without starting a j1game.

It's a slightly experimental squad but still better than any other team in the Asian Cup. I've been impressed with Tomiyasu. He is tall, quick and good at passing. No wonder Bremen and Lazio are chasing him. Shoji will move to French Ligue 1 too. Our depth of centre backs really improved. We will have 3 big league-based CBs in 2022!

Japan participated in Asian Cup 2000 with a relatively young squad and they had a very successful tournament. I hope the new JNT would replicate that team's performances and reclaim the Asian title.
