That was my hope with this line-up. I do think these guys have talent but this performance makes you start to wonder. They play in some of the top leagues in the world yet when they get together look like a pub team.
Those are false equivalencies. Sargent has definitely deserved better. Weah may have, and his attacking competition is as daunting as it gets in the world.
We need to learn how to identify captains. This is two in a row whose performances are contradicting the designation.
We have a defense that can't defend, a midfield that can't pass and forwards that can't control the ball or finish along with many other weaknesses and no strengths. Is it any wonder we are losing to England? The US is showing a real lack of soccer intelligence and ability starting with the horrendous coaching decisions and winding through the players and probably extending through the equipment managers. The total lack of direction means that US Men's soccer has gone from an average soccer nation all the way down to a doormat that is content to have any other national side walk all over us and not even put up any real resistance. The US has become the international soccer equivalent of the Washington Generals, only on the field to make the other teams look good.
Criminal mismanagement of this program and all of the hard earned money fans spend. There is no sugar coating this stuff. Maybe Dan Flynn got out while he still could.
This team needs someone in midfield to direct traffic. Guys are don't move off the ball properly naturally for some reason so we need a master string puller. Trapp ain't it.
McKennie and Trapp/Green is too soft of a central midfield. Villafana doesn't belong. Miazga: maybe go with an in-form CB. Then there is the Wembley factor.
Watch Sarachan make no changes at halftime, as per usual. Nothing to see here. Move along. We'd be wise to listen, but are gluttons for punishment.
How to kill yourself in 5 minutes: Take a shot of liquor every time the USA makes a backpass under minimal pressure.
I thought he was one of the few U.S. guys that actually looked up for it the first half. Smart passing and one excellent tackle that sent the U.S. on a break.
miazga brooks and yedlin all have had disappointing campaigns and villafana claerly doesnt belong. put that with a soft midfielder like trapp and who knows what like green and you have a formula for what we just saw
We should remember that this England is really good. I'd expect a Brazil type result, but the player selection is pretty bad. Trapp is a good possession midfielder, but he's simply not tough or quick enough for this level of play. Need Adams in there. Weah is invisible, but I'm not convinced it's him - I think it's the tactics.
