Thought I would make a thread after he has officially been made the permanent manager

    Fun Facts:
    • Solari becomes the fifth coach to be promoted directly from Castilla to the first team. The other 4: Miguel Munoz, Amancio, Lopez Caro, and Zizou. 4 others coached Castilla, went elsewhere, and eventually coached the first team. Those include Del Bosque, Mariano Remon, Rafa Benitez, and Lopetegui.
    • Solari becomes the fourth Argentine coach to take the helm. These include Di Stefano, Carniglia, and Valdano. Solari becomes the first Argentine to manage Madrid since 1996.
    • Solari appeared in 131 games as a Real Madrid player.

For those who are curious about who is next in line in the potential Castilla ---> Primera promotion line:

Wish him nothing but the best. Would love it if he became a success story.

Like I said in the other thread, we still might be able to do something in the league this year if we can fix our defensive issues. CL might be a step too far for us without a clutch player. Vamos Santi.

That pic of Santi and Zizou is just epic in every way.

I like what he's done so far but I recognize that it is still very early in his tenure and we have a lot stiffer competition to come that he'll be evaluated on. I would have preferred for him to just hold on till the end of the season so we could completely re-evaluate how we're going to move forward in the summer but I guess that isn't the plan as far as the club is concerned. I hope he does well and I hope he gets the support from Perez to build the squad he needs.

When everyone is back, I'd really like to see how he manages the entire squad. For now, let's just work on getting something positive out of this season.

I am cautiously optimistic. With that said:

    1) we have no idea if the team’s results so far have anything to do with him or are just the simple result of a natural bump in motivation when a manager gets canned. the coming weeks will say a lot

    2) none of it will matter if there aren’t significant reinforcements brought in this winter, especially in attack

    3) that hair, man

What significant signings should we expect to see in January. I can’t see us going for any of our potential big name targets next summer in January.

He has some very tough games ahead. Eibar, Roma and Valencia are our next 3 games.

Its very hard to do worse than Lopetegi. I think a clown could coach Madrid better than him. Solari was a good football player back in the day and not a goalkeeper flop like Lopetegi, plus he has much better personality than that retard who destroy both Spain and Madrid in 4 months.

We Madrid fans should be worried though.... coaches are not finding it very appealing to come coach Madrid. Conte basically said no thanks, and Martinez also said nah bros... im cool here in Belgium. Not sure if they ask Pochetino but he is cool at Spurs... not much interest in him coming. So we get the cheapest option... B team coach lol... well Hugo Sanchez wants to come at least.. he coach Pumas many years ago... yeah sad XD

Might be the best hair in football, no way Ronaldo would have been able to work with him (being completely outclassed on a daily basis to a guy who doesn't use gel or grease and probably only does a once over with his hand when he gets out of the shower).

They find it incredibly appealing, but:
    1. Don't have the balls
    2. Haven't got an offer anyway, so might as well say anything

If Solari makes anything remotely similar to Zidane, than Real got themselves a fantastic manager.

I honestly don't "expect" to see anything major happen this winter, but a man can hope.

I doubt we'll see another Zizou anytime soon. 3 UCL in 2.5 years, how do you measure "remotely similar" to that achievement? 1 UCL in 2 years? That's would still be considered a great achievement for any world class coach.

I don't rate the CDR at all, it's a very pointless trophy that should be always played by the B team.

I don't know why CDR isn't more prestigious in Spain. FA Cup is considered as a very big trophy in England.

It doesn't matter if it's just CDR. We are Real Madrid and we are obligated to fight for all trophees. Losing against Barcelona, Atletico or Sevilla can happen, but not against Leganes. We need to go for this cup as well.
