Villafana okay, Castillo is 32, Bello is one for the future but he has played, what, one game in MLS, Lindsay has a few more games but same boat and not playing for his MLS team right now, Bornstein is going on 34, FaJo is an option but he's 30, right footed, and not playing that position for his team, Beasley lol, Sweat is getting a look but he's not a starter when NYCFC is healthy, Vincent should definitely get a look but I don't think he's any better than Robinson and he's got less upside, Saief is not a left back, Danilo Acosta is riding pine, Kelyn Rowe is not a left back.

So that's Villafana, Sweatt, and Vincent - all who are getting looks.

I don't think his position is set in stone and they did call Sweatt, but we know what we have with Villafana and Vincent right now, and there's no other current options of any note. I mean, yes, trust me, if USMNT could "buy" players they'd be looking for a LB right now. We don't. We're going to see how we can integrate Robinson between now and the Gold Cup and if there are better options he won't start.

personally i would like to see saief and fabian johnson there....and bello just made team of the week in MLS so....he's still a ways away but a prime prospect for 2022, imo.

We've seen FabJo (who I believe is hurt for this callup anyway), let's see Saief healthy at his own position first before we start moving him to new ones just on a hunch, and Bello is definitely potentially one for 2022 (where he'll be 20) but I wouldn't expect him to be integrated into the team until 2020, and even then not in "important" games, unless we become desperate.

Robinson is a 21 year old natural left back with blistering speed who almost made Everton's first team and has had a total of *4* caps. Let's give him a few more run outs before we start throwing the kitchen sink at left back because of one bad game he had with his club (I guess, I didn't see it).

    Interview with Grant Wahl:

“My grandma on my dad's side lived between Florida and New York. And my father [Marlon Robinson] was born in England and moved out there [to the U.S.] when he was young. He lived in White Plains, New York. Then he moved to North Carolina to go to Duke University. So ever since I was a kid I knew I had dual citizenship and I could play for both teams.”

Robinson will be fine. He wasn't used to that heat and you don't see guys coming at you like what Brazil and Colombia have in the Colaship. You can learn defensive positioning and he already has speed and good technical ability. But feel free to overreact as thats what we do best here

Sure, eventually he will be good.

Now, though, he has some work to do.

just b/c someone points out that he isn't at the level needed for the USMNT at the moment doesn't mean that he never will be.

why do people conflate saying he's not good enough right now with he will never be good enough???

those two points are wildly different. yeah, a lot of times the players who are not good enough right now never will be...but that shouldnt be assumed every time someone is not good enough right now...

And another thing -the Brazils and Colombias of the world should be the measuring stick - not the TNTs or Canadas.

Two games in a row Robinson doesn't even make the bench - should we be worried?

Antonee goes 90. Leeds defeats Wigan 2-1. On whoscored, he was rated at 7.1. admittedly I didn't find much mention of him in the match reports. Leeds dominated possession (around 67 percent). A fan site had him at 6.0.

Huh, I, for one, am kind of glad I won't be seeing Antonee learning more lessons in that game a la Brazil and Colombia. Bright future but that I was expecting that to get ugly.
