https://abc7news.com/sports/san-jos...a-berlin-for-training-stint---source/4669687/ I guess there can be a thread for someone training @ a club, right? BTW, I like this type of move from Lima. Used to happen all the time in MLS 1.0 and 2.0 - these training/trials led to a lot of deals back in the day and I wish more MLS players would do stuff like this - seems it doesn't happen nearly as much as it used to.....
The German press characterizes this as a trial, though it's probably not, even though, generally speaking, it probably is, since all the world's a stage and all that. https://www.morgenpost.de/sport/her...S-Profi-Lima-zum-Probetraining-in-Berlin.html
Oh no. Don't steal our Nick! He is the only kid we have who has panned out. But also, "go Nick!" I don't think he'd be able to start for many BL teams, as he is now, but I think a little exposure to better coaching and opponents and he could get there in a year.
https://www.morgenpost.de/sport/her...bei-Hertha-staunt-ueber-das-Kieztraining.html Nick Lima played in a 1:1 draw between Hertha and 2 BL team Erzeberge Aue (sp?). Lima played the second half (which was 1:0 for Hertha)....not sure how he did but Hertha gave up zero goals with him on the field so at the very least he didn't give up any goals. Also, the article seems to mention he will be there for 2 weeks.
Lima is shown helping snuff out an attack and recording a hockey assist around the middle of this highlight video from a recent friendly. (full assist by @Excellency for relaying the clips). [/QUOTE]
Without getting into overanalysis of what it might mean or not mean, it's nice to see that a situation likes this leads to some match action (against a non-27th-division club) rather than just practice time.
I guess this was never a trial. Just a camp body and look for the future. Who knows how good it went. MLSTransfers claimed it was going well and he was still there, but it was immediately repudiated by an employee for the Quakes. If the guy had any cred left, it's gone now. The guy just makes s**t up. This isn’t true. Nick is already back in the Bay Area— Jake Pisani (@JPisani28) November 27, 2018
