2-0 full time. Miedema came on at the 70th minute and had a nice run in on goal but the chip of the keeper hit the crossbar. Denmark had a shot off the bar at the 90th minute so no away goals conceded.

The away tie will be played this coming Tuesday.

    Why was Miedema benched?? Injury??

  3. Coming back from one, so not started, but against tired legs used as a sub.

Also, don't forget the Denmark-Netherlands return tie tonight to see which team goes to the play-off for the final Euro slot in the WC.

  6. It seems all injuries are gone, so Wiegmans has the full spectrum to choose from. She hasnot given any info yet who's going to start up front.
Probably she goes for speed from the start, which would keep Miedema on the bench and subbed in against tired legs. Probably the starting line up will not differ much from the first match.

1-1 at the half and Dutch up 1-3 for the tie. Too much pressure on the ball from Lady Oranje is disrupting the Danish players.

A second late goal from Beerensteyn seals the win at 1-2 and the tie 1-4. Dutch face the winner of the Belgium-Switzerland match for the WC playoff.

^^Too bad she cannot replicate this for the Dutch women's team. IMO, she's too slow.

3-0 now. All they need is an away goal in Bern and they qualify.
I highly doubt Swiss would score 5 goals against NL

Her footwork inside the box on the third goal was spectacular. Many male strikers would like to be as adept as Miedema.

Dutch ladies can seal the deal tonight with the return tie against Switzerland. An away goal or two should be insurmountable.

they need to play some tough friendlies before the WC to get accustomed to high pressure matches. It was probably good that they had to go through the playoffs as it showed the Lionesses that everything in football is not easy.

  18. I would suggest to play friendlies against the top eredivisie teams.

You can say that for every team that plays in the WC.

In 2010 Spain were lucky to win PK's against Paraguay, and also lucky Casillas toe got in the way.
In 2014 Germany were a bit lucky to get by their bogey team (Algeria).

Our ladies have the talent to go all the way, plus they will have cutest players in the whole tournament

  21. I think the French WC cities are dying to get the Orange Lionesses in their stadium.
They see the sold out stadiums the Orange ladies filled and remember the Orange flood in the WC 1998.
