Apparently he's been there since 2016. Their win totals in the last six years: 2013- 2 2014- 1 2015- 1 2016- 1 (Gaven's first year) 2017- 3 2018- 7 (their best in over a decade) Looks like pretty good progress to me.
Did @hangthadj write this? If so, consider signing me up for Gritty. https://www.starsandstripesfc.com/2018/11/2/18053308/five-illogical-candidates-usmnt-coach
Oof, you are technically correct, which is the best kind of correct. Thank you for the fact checking. The error shall be corrected.
Gregg Berhalter getting his Crew into three Eastern Conference Finals in four years would be something, wouldn't it?
Apparently I missed the discussion last week of not wanting GBS as a coach. Any reason is wrong. Please go to some form of reeducation camp to help save your Crew soul.
I've thought about this too. I wondered to myself why Gregg's teams in the playoffs nearly always outperform what we see over 34 games in the regular season. At one point in my head I thought to myself, "Maybe Gregg is just a really good tournament coach..." Then I remembered The Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
I think the saying is "Too all the little Berhaltermaniacs out there say your prayers and take your vitamins and Gregg will never go wrong. Whatcho gonna do when Berhaltermania runs wild on you!?!?!"
Sooner or later, you’re going to have to accept the reality that many people don’t give a flying shit about the Open Cup.
A lot of people here point to the SKC as an example of what can happen with local ownership, rebrand, new stadium, etc. You know what else SKC did during that time. They established a culture of winning. You can point towards the Sounders in this way to. They established a culture of winning and they took the US Open Cup seriously. That had a direct impact on their teams brand and support. People wanted to line up behind a winner. We lose to FC Cincinnati.
I'm not saying Red Bulls aren't a MUCH MUCH MUCH better team than Columbus. They are. I am saying, all that future USMNT manager Gregg Berhalter had to do was manage a 1-0 lead on the road against a manager who was in charge of his 19th professional game....
