Next game is against SV&G. We are now in poll position to advance to the next round. We are the only undefeated team in the group with two games left.

I feel like we're the hare against four tortoises. We got this - someone wake me up when we advance to the next round. ...

Should we call them the Vincentians or the Grenadiers, or maybe the Vincentians & the Grenadiers?

Maybe the USA will score 14?

I expect more of the same. Two quick goals to start and then a more low-energy approach to keep the legs fresh for the next round.

Lineup I’d go with for this game

    Ochoa
    Perez-Araujo-Rogers-Gloster
    Fontana
    Amaya-Angking
    Dorsey-Rennicks-Akinola

    Like it matters.

We could pick a random D-3 college soccer team, only use their freshman and sophomores, and still win this game handily.

What's the over/under for US goals scored tonight? I'm putting it at 10.

How messed up would it be if the USA only scored once?

Also, on an unrelated note, if San Marino's U20 were in this tournament, would even they win at least once?

Of course they would win. Based on GD both the USVI and Sint Maarten would be beaten by just about any U20 team, with perhaps the exception of American Samoa or maybe Bhutan.

Somewhat surprised that Ochoa doesn't get the start. Also, no Dorsey. Either he has a knock or Ramos has seen enough and will only give him spot minutes. Lindsey back, hmm. Llanez seems to be a mandatory part of the attack so Ramos will just have him play partial games each time. Maybe today he'll look for a goal and an assist (or two) and take him out at HT.

I am mildly curious to know if Perez or Lindsey plays as the centerback next to Rogers.

This is dross, against an opponent even the u20 b-team should be over-matching. Not nearly enough patience from the young blokes on the field. Should be able to sidestep them and pick out a pass. Instead they're playing direct down the field or into the box with hopeful crosses. Badly missing the influence of Pomykol.

All the more reason that shouldn't be taken for granted. The team moved the ball well and had good ideas. Didn't get the hand-wringing against someone w/ a pulse.

This performance has been an abomination in terms of possession and creation. And the finishing has sucked too. Takes a combo of factors to not score in a half against a minnow.

I can't help but be frustrated that we don't even attempt to build play, even against teams we dwarf in talent and when we have the players to do it. These teams play this low-percentage, balls over the top and run offense. Just feels like wasted opportunities to improve on the ball as a team.
