PSV MF is not good enough for CL football. While I would like to see them handle Spurs, I don't think it will happen.

PSV MF overrun again tonight. Without Lozano they are just an ordinary team. Really bad challenge by Lloris on Lozano and a well deserved Red Card for the Spurs keeper. PSV still need to find a win to make it into the Europa League.

Similar match as vs. Inter. PSV showed good energy and a few bursts of promising moment, but as a whole, the team is just too slow, tentative and not good enough for UCL tournament. Luukinho and Pereiro were hugely ineffective (aside from the goal and the shot against the bar). Defense was un-organized all over the map. The biggest disappointment was Hendrix... sloppy, too many misplaced passes and couldn't provide cover to his backline. He's been on the bad spell lately, I think he needs to be rested/benched. I can't see PSV picking up any more points from the remaining matches. 2 away matches and home to Barcelona. Still, good experience for the young squad, and they have a good chance to come back next year with a strong campaign in the domestic league.

Who do you see as young of this team?

I believe all outfield players, Schwab, Viergiever and Luuk De Jong excepted, are under 24 years old... too lazy to look up, but I'd suspect even those three exceptions are under 30.

  8. I missed the match as it turned out they played it rather early.
When I wanted to have a look via "programma gemist" I came in in the programm with all talk and commercials and no way I could play forward to the match so I thought feck you Veronica.
It seems the inexperience of the young players on this level is having an impact on performance.

Yet Ajax seem to perform well in comparison. Of course PSV were unlucky in the draw.

  10. The important ones at Ajax made the run into the EL final and gained invaluable experience in the run up to it. Plus they have experienced players with that level of competition in Blind and Tadic. No comparison.

But PSV were in the CL for the last several years and made it to the round of 16 three years ago I believe.

  12. Not with this young lot. It's Cocu who hardly ever played young talents, let alone in CL matches. Mark van Bommel changed that in the sense he's more of a risk taker while Cocu was more of a risc aversion type of manager.
So the Bosz era is years later still producing fruit for Ajax.

  13. Wow, PSV scores within 2 minutes at Wembley.

Missed the PSV match this week due to the Thanksgiving festivities here..... watched the extended highlight instead.

With that kind of sweet scissor kick, I couldn't tell if it was Luukinho or Zlatan playing striker for PSV :D:p BTW, after less-than-stellar start of the season, Luuk is now the leading goal-scorer in Eredivisie with 12 goals.

Unless they get hit with injuries, I cannot see anyone other than Ajax in the return match defeating them this season. They do enough to win and don't have the league cup or Europe (barring a huge upset) to bother them the rest of the way. If they did not have Lozano they would be quite ordinary.

PSV will be away at Feyenoord next weekend, after a home match mid week against Barcelona at UCL. PSV has very little chance of qualifying of the group. It will be interesting if MVB will run hard for the third spot, or if he's ready to throw the towel out (and finally rotates his squad). My guess is probably the former scenario... which means, match vs. Barcelona will be physical and mental drainage. I can see PSV dropping points at De Kuip.

^^I will be cheering for Feyenoord but don't think they can deal with Lozano.

PSV gave it a go yesterday but the talent gulf is just too wide. Now they are out of Europe and the Dutch Cup with only the league to play for. Messi's goal was a thing of beauty. He is probably the greatest player of all time in small spaces.

  19. They fought for it and just didnot have luck on their side, not with the group they ended up with, but also misfortune in the matches themselves.
However when they land the title they will qualify directly for the group stages. No qualifying matches for the Dutch champions next year.
PSV will lose points in Rotterdam!

"It also is going fast with Mohammed Ihattaren (16), who this week trained at PSV with the A-selection. Van Bommel: ,, Why? Because he showed from the beginning of the season and also the seasons before that he is a very good player. He is sixteen now and if you already make a difference at the19 level every week, you deserve to train with us. He will participate more often in the coming period. "

  21. What a breath of common sense by these parents and agent:
    https://www.ed.nl/psv/met-ihattaren-beschikt-psv-over-nieuw-toptalent~a0c079fe/

  22. Maybe those parents and agent could pay a visit to that Feyenoord talent that wants to move to Turkey?

  23. The main sponsor of PSV had to stop handing out free Christmas sweaters as the situation for the fans became dangerous.
Something free and Dutch. What could possibly go wrong:ROFLMAO:

PSV stay at the top of the table beating AZ today. They really looked bad in the first half and the supporters where whistling as they couldn't even get the ball past the midway line. AZ got a good goal but couldn't add to it and then PSV evened it up when Bizot saved a shot but parried it right to Bergwijn. van Bommel took Pereiro off before the half and the team seemed to do much better. Lozono is really the key player for them.
