Apropos, "The facts being that it is better to do 500 tests right, than 1000" => already proven that Belgium doesn't do window dressing. Quite the opposite (see quote below). For certain countries it's true though, that they simply like to seem rather than to be clean.

Seeing doping control is terribly underfunded in Holland, why do you think the few tests they do carry out are done right? For all we know the situation is as bad as it is for other underfunded dutchies: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...cause-theyve-run-out-of-bullets-10442332.html

The justice system and so on is not civil society. Neither is government and business corruption.

You can say it is iffy but I guess it is more reliable than your wet finger on sports madness and irrelevant journalism on soldiers without bullets.

Give me at least the time to respond to the previous things. One thing I will not overlook is that Belgium does the lab testing internally, while for the Netherlands all blood and urine samples are analysed by diverse foreign labs. So no butcher who controls his own meat, no WC eend advises WC eend. This is a fact. Most proper countries (e.g. Sweden) do it that way, and that is a protocol receiving some thumbs up.

And again: the point is not one country being generally better, but your claim in that regard (you made that claim and I responded).

OK then, to sum up, you concede Belgium put in a lot more effort, tracking down offenders, compared to Holland. It's hard not to concede though, with 4.5 to 5 times as many tests in the year before Rio2016 (based on the number of athletes each country sent). Seeing you mention Sweden, a "proper country", you can check and will see that Sweden as well, like Belgium, had fewer athletes than Holland in Rio yet carried out a lot more tests in the year before.

Also, you concede Belgium are in line with WADA requirements. Belgium even goes beyond what's required because anti-doping is viewed as a matter of public health (granting access to massive funds). For Holland you say: "Countries not going further than international governance requirements is not wrong." Well, I hope you at least agree it's a bit rotten when Holland don't look at all, e.g. your article or running out of funds and simply not doing any tests. Quality is then non-existent or when asking why "handicap yourself", as you put it, it's the bare minimum (as long as you can get away with it, right?). Your "butcher who controls his own meat" bit definitely applies to Holland's self-regulation approach. When anti-doping is a matter for the "good" people of the sports industry themselves it's no surprise there's a lack of funding (fewer tests, not as strict, quality suffers).

One country, Holland, being generally poorer than Belgium, or Sweden for that matter, isn't based on a wet finger but looking at the numbers it's clear as day.

According to the Dutch doping agency Holland donot have any labs (the Dutch trying to uphold their reputation for being cheap?). Instead they send the samples abroad to only two labs, "diverse foreign labs" is a bit of a stretch but here's the kicker: one of the two, where in your words "testing is done right and state of the art" is in Ghent, Belgium.

The other lab is in Cologne and what did you have to say about that one: "There are also no Cologne, Madrid incidents where a lab does both the testing and making the designer drugs."

Happy with your troll and parachuting out of this thread?

The only one who is constantly trolling and aggressive is you. It is you who started this (yes, after an article of mine about problems in Holland). It is not me who started the attack.

The lists and rankings speak for itself. And yes, Holland earns points for letting competing countries do the testing. That ranking is all that matters, not your cheap conjecture.

The number of tests are not the most relevant part when the governance is less good. Read the foremost expert Declan Hill:

As promised, I'd return to it. Here a start.

As the expert Hans Vandeweghe (a Belgian) has noted in his book though, Belgium is pretty unique in naming cycling competitions after proven drug traffickers and sinners.
    https://books.google.nl/books?id=oV6YIyPOF-gC&lpg=PT178&dq=vandeweghe de clercq&hl=nl&pg=PT178#v=onepage&q&f=false
(I have his book on my bookshelf)

That many international cyclists like to live and train in Belgium and Spain is not because they are super strict compared to other countries (especially Spain).

P.S. Vandeweghe also says there in his book: "a crusade like the one against the Austrian connection of the Rabobank would never happen in Belgium in the same way." Can't be more clearer about the governance of the whole thing. Number of tests look nice on paper, but isn't the only thing.

And - as noted before - Vandeweghe his words don't stand alone. It is backed up by the aforementioned supranational lists and rankings, that you called 'iffy'.

(I'll repeat again: I have never claimed Belgium is a particularly bad country, or categorically worse; you started this however with your 'Belgium does better' claim. The rankings and lists on this cannot be more clearer)

Your list for Holland included Seedorf and Sneijder which is just laughable and pure trolling. There are no indications for it. By the same token we might include duracell bunny De Bruyne.

Weren't the tennis stars Malisse and Wickmayer household names? It is really not that hard. And why has the 'ozon case' been put in the dark?

    https://www.hln.be/sport/gerecht-verdenkt-19-topsporters-van-doping~a27055a1/?referer=https://www.google.nl/

Why is that put in the 'doofpot'? In the same way as Dutroux, the roze baletten and Bende van Nijvel was put in the doofpot? It is a public secret Belgium has put a few matchfixing and drugs cases in the 'doofpot' (not in the same order of magnitude as Italy, Argentina or Spain, but still). Declan Hill and Vandeweghe agrees.

Let's see, this is what The Economist said past summer: "In the Netherlands several players have confessed [during their playing days!] to using amphetamines when playing their clubs’ famously energetic brand of “total football” during the 1970s; at the time, no ban existed for those drugs."
    https://www.economist.com/game-theory/2018/07/06/is-the-world-cup-really-free-from-doping

What certainly did not happen, were cover-ups by the powerful Germans with their powerful FIFA friends:
    http://www.spiegel.de/international...ls-doping-breach-on-german-team-a-789852.html

(from the 'routledge handbook on drugs in sports')

Netherlands was competing at a level playing field (where generally transparent and open about it; and not 25 years later), and I guarantee you also Belgian footballers of that time were using that stuff.

As for the 1990s footballers: over 400 athletes were busted. Later they found problems with 'unstable urine' and they raised the limit from 2ng to 10ng. All of the Dutch players were below that 10ng limit (unlike 12ng Guardiola, who typically was protected by the Italian and Spanish systems, which is also reflected in aforementioned lists and rankings... it really is not hard to grasp).

To exaggerate it all (to put it mildly):

Flemish writer and commentator Herman Brusselmans:

'Dossier cover-ups' from 22 years ago:

    Dossier belgische doofpotten

Literatuur: H. Gijsels, Netwerk Gladio. Leuven, 1991; J. Willems (red.), Gladio. Brussel/Antwerpen, 1991; Belgische Senaat, Document 1117-4 (1990-1991), Brussel, 1991. (ab)

@PuckVanHeel still at it, I see.
From having come across some of your posts in the past I was already well aware of your obsession about conspiracies. No need to keep proving it to me with more links and more copy-paste ITT. The ones that know Dutch aren't reading it either.

Regarding your words on doping throughout this thread, a shame they didn't help you much. Quite the opposite. Yet there's no need to get upset simply because you keep shooting yourself in the foot. Please choose your words more carefully because it's too easy when you undermine yourself with your own words. Also, leave out the straw man responses. It's poor form and using them doesn't reflect well on you. How about you give an actual conversation a try in future.

PS your best shot at coming up with household names is Malisse and Wickmayer? They didn't even test positive. A case was made about their whereabouts and in the end the case was dropped. Sorry about that.

Blahblahblah. You keep on going with your personal accusations and personal insults - not me. It is a sign you know you are on the wrong side of the argument.

Dude, you started all of this at the previous page. You brought up all of these subjects with a 'we are better' triumphalism, I did not. Then I just point at the obvious facts, primarily the lists and the rankings, those are clear as daylight and tell the true story. Not the cherry-picks as the number of ('worthless') tests.

Our governance is certainly not categorically worse than Belgium, that is damn obvious (and I did not claim the opposite, it was you dropping the proposition). And for six decades we let various competing countries do the testing of our athletes. It is clear as hell.

I'm done with your diversion tactics.

Yes those greedy and vile Eredivisie clubs...

While, again, I agree much can be improved, clubs have some imperative to be 'greedy' and have less leeway to balance the books in the ways some other small leagues have... There is no hidden pocket with money to smooth out things, and keep it behind closed doors.

This factor below makes it easier to look generous and don't have a publicly fought out battle for the money... Indeed, don't awake the sleeping dogs...

Well, Holland's "number of tests" is quite low compared to Belgium's or Sweden's numbers and seeing you no longer claim that they are "done right and state of the art" but instead "worthless" the picture looks even bleaker for Holland. Have you made up your mind about the lab in Ghent, or the one in Cologne for that matter, the only two labs that receive samples from Holland? Is "testing is done right and state of the art" in Ghent or is it "worthless"?

For my first two replies ITT, I made one post about operation clean hands and in the other one I addressed your article on doping in Holland. You ran with the latter, just the one subject, doping, not "all of these subjects" even though you've tried to squeeze in a fair few unrelated conspiracy theories. You have a funny hobby but as I said before: whatever tickles your pickle, go for it.

Also, it looks like you're not quite done but have gone to another thread to copy one of my quotes and put it in here.

So addressing statements about doping in Holland = personal accusations and personal insults? You were presented with the numbers, from WADA (as opposed to your rankings and lists that were iffy at best or that didn't even mention doping directly). Yet as you didn't like facts you called it "cheap conjecture". Once more I'll use your words (just to be clear, this isn't an attack):
