It looks like we have talent in midfield and up front. Our current defence is horrendous. We need to majorly improve there.
We have strikers, we have midfielders, we like to press but we can't defend. Sounds like we're Liverpool before they signed van Dijk.
We're actually deep at right back with Godinho, Brault-guillard, Cordova. Adekudbe has leftback lock down. Centre-back is the problem. Courting and getting both Ricardo Ferreira and Tomori would fix our problem for now. Vitoria has been starting nonstop in Europe so maybe he could be called again
Thank you Ballou!!!! Ah the changes in attitude of our youth is a sight for old and very sore eyes. Good bye to the mercenary, "what's in it for me me me me me, crowd. It started with Tesho and the momentum since has been great to see. A big thank you to all who have chosen to play for Canada.
It's funny because we always used to have good goal tending and solid defence but no one who could put the ball in the net.

That looks like roster tailor-made for a 3-5-2 with Atiba as a Centre Back that moves into place as a 2nd DM during periods of heavy possession. GK: Busti CB: Edgar CB: James CB: Atiba Wing/WB: Brault-Guillard Wing/WB: Davies DM: Piette CM:Tabla CM: Osorio FW: Cavallani FW: Larin Another option might be a straigh 442 with Davies as a Roberto Carlos-esque adventurous fullback, Edgar on the bench in favour of Millar, and Millar and Tabla out wide but narrowing on attack with fullbacks pressing forward. But being an armchair manager is easy, Herdman's job is difficult.
Just use the same formation as the USVI game. You're at home, you want to entertain, you need goals, the opponent likely won't threaten you defensively...why change?
Well, Dominica was in a better pot, so they should be at least nominally better than USVI. But yeah, Canada needs to blow them up. Win by 7 or 8 goals again.
I concur. Also, at this stage of our team's development, we just need to get in reps with all the young players. It's not the time - nor is there the need - to start trying fancy stuff with the formations.
I was at the game. I recall a 4-5-1 with Marcus Haber the lone forward. I suspect our attack is a little more threatening now.
I definitely want and expect us to win comfortably. I don't think we need to start expecting/getting worried about beating teams by massive margins. The game will be what the game is and a bunkering team can keep a score respectable in a totally lobsided match.
Canada stalwart Atiba Hutchinson set for international retirement after 2019 Gold Cup.📝: https://t.co/E7i6AczrQO | #CanPL pic.twitter.com/XJD8fxiZds— Canadian Premier League (@CPLsoccer) October 15, 2018
One of the greatest this country ever produced. A shame that he never got the real accolades he deserved.
Wow. 35 years old and 15 years playing for our MNT and he's wanting one more go at the Gold Cup. I wonder how much seeing all the youth like Davies, Osorio & Tabla coming on board has made him want to stick around?
He's open for maybe a role in CPL My latest for #CanPL 🍁I asked #CanMNT veteran Atiba Hutchinson about his international retirement plans, final days in Besiktas, and possible role with the CPL. Here's what he had to say📝: https://t.co/48jw13PAlu pic.twitter.com/ySKHeHpW37— Armen Bedakian (@ArmenBedakian) October 16, 2018
Another good performance. Against a minnow but they did what they needed to do and did it pretty well with a lot of youth on the roster. I haven't done an exhaustive analysis but I'm pretty sure that we will now qualify for League A if we win our next two games regardless of goal differential. Many of the remaining undefeated teams play each other so there won't be enough undefeated teams standing at the end for goal differential to become necessary as a tie breaker to see who finishes in the top six.
