peru isnt bettter than the us...they havent looked like they can score at all...and the us has 48 previous caps with this lineup....tells me that full-strength usmnt should be better than peru.
Acosta, Trapp, and Delgado turned the ball over off of a misplaced pass a total 13 times in the first half. We had the ball for 14 minutes total in the first half, so that means one of those 3 was losing the ball every minute we had the ball. Your central midfielders are supposed to be your most reliable distributors. Attacking 3 (all teenagers) have only misplaced a total of 7 passes. That left side of defense of Long and Sweat have combined for 12 misplaced passes. CCV and Cannon have only combined for 4. It's pretty easy to see statistically and by watching who the weakest players are out there.
We need EPB as a DM, McKennie and Adams in front of him, and then let Amon and Weah run wild (assuming we have no Pulisic) with Sargent up front.
that group wouldnt score against any decent squad....why do people not realize 3 dmids is not the answer?
Actually, I think this midfield is playing better than the one we put out there against Colombia. Yes, they have turnovers, but not in dangerous areas, and have been mobile enough. It's nothing that is going to get us past the group stage in Qatar, but it's something.
McKennie's actually pretty decent going forward. And I did say that'd be my 3 if we didn't have Pulisic. Obviously, with Pulisic, I'm putting him at AM, with McKennie behind him, and EPB behind him.
Sargent has flashed the most of anyone so far. Exciting prospect. Would like to see what he could do with CP and Adams.
THAT is what Amon can do. He's more than just a speedster. He's been playing balls like that all season.
