Vlachodimos with the best ratings on the Benfica team.

Leno's Arsenal debut saw him concede 2 goals in a 4-2 win in EL. Although not like he could do anything against those 2 goals scored. Both were caused by defenses lapse of concentration/sleeping as well.

Leno played his 2nd game in League Cup in a 3-1 win.

speaking of Vlachodimos, German GK have a "history" at Benfica. He's the 3rd GK (and 4th overall player after Mukhtar) after Enke and Butt. Interesting to note, however they did in Portugal they still attracted tons of interest around Europe just like Vlachodimos has after his good start. And both Enke and Butt were part of the NT as well.

looks like Cech injured himself and Leno played the 2nd half as Arsenal kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win.

Fabian Bredlow was at direct fault for at least 2-3 goals conceded as Nürnberg lost 0-6 to Leipzig

so instead of a 6-0 loss it should have been 3-0 or 4-0. Hardly makes a difference, still a loss although wouldn't be surprised if he either gets benched or on threat to being so.

People in charge of the DFB are all idiots. Odisseas Vlachodimos will very likely join Greece in the future if Germany does not call him up and cap tie him. Germany cannot afford to lose a solid GK option. After the development of Ter Stegen, every else sucks with the exception of maybe Florian Müller in the future. But who knows if he'll be great in the long run. Karius ended up being a major flop.

According to reports, the NT players internally wanted Ter Stegen to be the starter during the past WC instead of Neuer

    http://www.sportbuzzer.de/artikel/m...el-ter-stegen-diskussionen-kader-spieler-low/

Oliver Kahn criticizes that after Ter Stegen, there are no absolute exceptional GK talents in the DFB system

"In the Bundesliga, twelve German goalkeepers are the number one in their clubs, nine of them are over the age of 28. The most promising, Julian Pollersbeck, plays in the second league with HSV."

Seems like he doesn't consider Mainz's Florian Müller into this discussion yet.

maybe Low, Kahn and the entire DFB forget that he's German. Maybe everyone thinks the guy is Greek.:p

"That guy was part of the German youth NT, really? When?"

yeah the age thing is something I noticed, it's also accurate for some of the non German GK. It's why guys like Nubel who is already 22 is nowhere near the #1 because Fahrmann is 30 and years away from being displaced. Not only that some of them seem very likely to be going nowhere. Who thinks a 30 year old at Schalke for example will go to another German club.....yeah unlikely or at that age tempt his chances abroad, even less likely. Why leave when your comfortable and #1?

all these young keepers seem to be in a tough spot. Some need loans while others are pretty much wasting their time.

clubs seem even less keen on giving a chance to inexperienced GK, that's the position that's the toughest for youngsters. Even more so when plenty of these clubs just buy instead of promotion.

You always see talk about how Fruchtl or Unbehaun are the future of Bayern and Dortmund. But I have 0 idea how that will happen with such big clubs unless they get a 1BL loan at some point. Guys like Smarsch, Plogmann etc seem to have easier chances to #1.

Nübel is a pretty unknown to me tbh. I don't know what to expect from him. For me he's just a keeper that plays for the U21 but sits on the Schalke bench all the time. Hopefully he's not just another Wellenreuther who looks like a mediocre pro keeper. Guys like Wellenreuther, and Schwäbe used to be tracked when they were in the youth age groups but are now playing abroad but nothing notable. Eike Bansen at Zulte Waregem in the Belgian hasn't played at all. I remain skeptical about Früchtl. Looks like it's just easy for the media to liken him to Neuer without any substance behind reports. We're likely entering a phase where a keeper may have to wait until they're 25 or 26 before they become a starter.

it's more than the media though recall, Sammer, Pep, Neuer, Bayern GK coach and others have all been impressed by Fruchtl at some point.

has been doing well in the RL even when he was a starting GK at 17 years old (currently 18) there. He's usually one of he youngest GK in RL. Tons of games where he saved an inferior Bayern whether in Youth League or RL.

there were also some talks about how 1BL and 2BL clubs were interested to taking him on loan. Although that seems too early which is why he never went. And that getting training with the 1st team is it for now as he's the 3rd GK.

well the good news for us is that Bayern II seems headed towards a potential 3rd Liga promotion after this season. Could be played at a higher level. If that's the case and he stays put next season, 3rd Liga>>>RL.

whether he pans out or not or is another Kraft and Rensing who knows, only time will tell. But a loan in the next year or 2 could be good.

Sad thing about Nübel is that even if he goes out on loan, it'll likely be to just a 2BL or 3BL club. And he probably won't even be a starter there anyways. At least not for a while as it takes quite some time before a young keeper gets to take over. So I can't even say what exact club would be a good fit for him.
