Well, Amon isn't a central midfielder, so obviously we couldn't dress him as a potential sub at winger. I look forward to seeing Wil Trapp be the next holding midfielder in line for an audition out there.
As evidenced on these boards, I am not a fan of Bradley. I even have to admit though, that he was the least unimpressive (if you follow the double negative) last night. Robinson and Saief were terrible. Green is not a #10 unless you put talent around him. Brooks has at least 1 or 2 moments in each match that make him look like he was born without the ability to walk. Yedlin is fairly one dimensional. Steffen is not the answer at the back. Weah right now probably thinks he should have declared for Liberia. At least then he'd have a fighting chance to qualify for 2022.
I can't see why everybody is complaining about MB playing, this is 'Merica. We make sure big names are playing in all of our sports, how else are you going to get eyeballs to watch? Winning is overrated, making money is the only thing that matters. Look at the Ryder Cup, we called up grandpa Phil and Tiger to represent us. They proved to be as solid a choice as MB.
I did a much longer post in the Colombian forum about this game. All I am going to say around here is that I like the future of the team and hope the coaching situation gets resolved by November as planned. I think with Pulisic and Adams and McKinny we have nothing to worry about talent wise. Just have to hope the new manager is halfway competent.
Actually Chara's brother at Portland is the DM. This Chara who used to play sort of like a central midfielder is more of a supporting striker now.
My two cents on Bradley: I don't want to see him play anymore because I am still sour about the last cycle and don't want anyone his age to be a part of this cycle. That being said I have various family members who disagree with me and say we still need him for experience and leadership. I am still sticking to my guns here on this one but I do respect the opinion that he should be given a chance. (I just respectfully disagree with it.)
I just saw Peru vs Chile game and the Peruvians are playing better than Colombia. Is going to be a long Tuesday night.
Show them this video below of Bradley jogging with all younger and older players around him running . They will quickly come to their senses like 99% of US fans have. 1050566701262213122 is not a valid tweet id
I've been telling you, that defense was going to show weak the moment we faced teams that dribble & short-pass quickly. With our luck, if we make it, we're probably getting in the Spain, Ireland, Nigeria group.
I don't know if they have been playing better. Peru have a manager that I wish Colombia had though. So The USA has to be more aware of their schemes. I think what can help us beat Peru though is that the game is in Connecticut and we usually play very well there with a pro-usa crowds. The game in Tampa looked more like Barranquilla than the USA.
Connecticut is not very far from New Jersey which has maybe the biggest Peruvian community in the country
This is true. But I still expect it to be a better Pro-USA turnout than what we saw in Tampa by comparison. And the USA usually gets good results there. I can't remember a loss there quite frankly.
This may be a first. Peru is been playing great and Peruvian fans had one of the biggest turnouts for the WC. And worst of all, we are not at full strength. I would be happy with just a tie.
USSF is an embarrassment. If any other US team sports were run this poorly, there'd be hell to pay for it from their fans.
Why are people so astounded that we lost this game? Lol, we didn’t have our two best players and even if we did....we were still going to be outclassed
its the way this team is being run that upsets everyone. We have an interim coach who was part of the failure to miss the world cup last year. we have a player who is immediately given the armband without earning it this cycle, who jogged last year down in T &T and then jogs again vs Colombia. and there is just zero accountability from anyone who has the platform because the establishment stacks the deck by having all former players become announcers/analysts who wont criticize people at fault who are also connected to the same said establishment.
And even worse, USSF shows no urgency in at least trying to address the structural problems it has. And US fans have no way of boycotting USSF because USSF will just host friendlies against South American countries where 99% of the crowd will be rooting for the away team. USSF makes money either way. What bullshit.
I was not trolling. I was trying to make a point that as an American, I don't shit on other people because they call a sport by a different name in their own language, unlike many Europeans and South Americans who lecture the US over the word soccer.
