I’m not sure how I can criticize my this US team when it’s clear they are outclassed. I haven’t seen anything other than the typical putrid attacking performance that stands out.
Well, some promising work for around 20 minutes but then they lost it. Steffen, Miazga and Bradley were probably the top U.S. performers. None of the attacking players seem to have field vision to look for open passes and play somebody into space... it is like they have already made up their mind what they are going to do regardless of their teammates' positioning.
Goal on Saief. Why run away from James he has it in the box? Silly. Real lucky to only be down one. Got a long way to go. Take off Saief and probably Robinson. I'd also yank Mikey.
I’m a little concerned about everyone playing past Bradley and the backline. There is a unacceptable amount of ball watching in transition and these deep passes from the Colombian players are stretching our shape. Defense actually has been extremely solid considering the might as well be kick the back back to themselves with this attack.
i can assure you that as soon as sarachan is not the one screaming at the team from the sidelines, the team will be better off....it would be true even in this game.
Green had one good game off the bench against mostly a 10-man lineup last camp. People overreacted and thought that made him a starter. One of those guys was Sarachan himself. Julian is a super-sub. He brings energy and skill in a lot of games off the bench or starting against inferior opposition, but really lacks in terms of positional awareness and vision to be a starter against solid opposition. He wasn't marking and was missing wide open teammates left and right. Really astonishing people thought he was a 10 with his vision. He's a striker or left wing-forward when the opponent is pinned back. We haven't seen enough from Saief, but so far it's been suspect in terms of creativity and marking. I have a hunch he's another tweener for the US.
Man that left side is super weak defensively. Nothing going forward. Pulisic better never get injured again.
Why would you yank Mike? He’s looked better than every other midfielder. Which, unfortunately, isn’t necessarily a compliment, but if you can make an argument that’s coherent please do. I may just be missing something.
That's the key. This is like a mechanized army taking the field of battle against a bronze age army with shields and swords. Hard to really draw any conclusions about any one player. Compared to the talent on display from Colombia, the Americans a just outgunned. No coach, no tactics, no talent. Triple crown.
Tim Weah has been given a few opportunities already and so far he has not showed me much. Sargent is a better prospect and is already ahead of him.
