No club won at least 5 of their first 7 games. In the Premier League, Chelsea and Liverpool have won 5 out of 5. To make 5 wins out of 7, Manchester City needs to win at Cardiff and/or hosting Brighton & Hove Albion. Watford needs to win at Fulham and/or at Arsenal. AFC Bournemouth needs to win at Burnley and hosting Crystal Palace. Tottenham needs to win at Brighton & Hove Albion and at Huddersfield. Arsenal needs to win hosting Everton and hosting Watford. Manchester United needs to win hosting Wolverhampton and at West Ham. None of those are extremely hard, and it's possible that at least a quarter of the Premier League clubs will open with at least 5 out of 7 wins.
I was saying how no League Championship club won at least 5 of their first 7 games and contrasting it with how many Premier League clubs will do that.
Sheffield United on fire at the moment. 22 points from the last 27 and the two strikers have scored 7 in the last 3 games between them. Who's going to replace Bruce and will they have it in them to trouble the race for automatic promotion? By the way my tips for relegation are Ipswich, Reading and Rotherham. Promotion much harder to guess.
Four assistants were sacked also, and their U-23 manager took over. Sky Sports says they could hire Sam Allardyce or Thierry Henry.
https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11677/11516430/steve-bruce-sacked-by-aston-villa ends by saying: "Former Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry, ex-England manager Sam Allardyce and current Brentford boss Dean Smith have emerged as the early front-runners to become Villa's next permanent manager."
I know it is early stages but HAFC at the bottom of the table? PNE too? Reading right at the edge? AND THE PIGS AT THE TOP!?!?!?
Get used to it! The bottom 9 doesn't surprise me really, although I'd have maybe had Wigan instead of Millwall. Hull didn't play badly on Saturday but Reading are a woeful side.
In under ten years several clubs have been relegated from the Premier League and League Championship. Blackburn, Wigan, Sunderland, Portsmouth, and Blackpool did that. The last two were relegated three times and promoted to League One.
Brutal absence of refereeing in Aston Villa- West Brom game Friday...how they missed both handballs is beyond explanation.
Villa signs new keeper, Nyland hasn’t given anyone much confidence. Let’s hope new guy is less prone to the periodic “what was he thinking?”. Well, I’ll hope that, the rest of you can hope the new guy has to tether his seeing eye dog to the post.
Surprised at how well Norwich are doing (so far) since on paper last year's squad was much stronger. The ending of the game vs Millwall in November was unbelievable. I hope Ipswich gets relegated!
